Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of 2 effect-site concentrations of remifentanil with midazolam during percutaneous transluminal balloon angioplasty under monitored anesthesia care: A randomized controlled study.
Until now, target-controlled infusion of remifentanil with midazolam in percutaneous transluminal balloon angioplasty for dysfunctional hemodialysis fistulas has not been described. Here, we investigate 2 effect-site concentrations of remifentanil with intermittent bolus midazolam for percutaneous transluminal balloon angioplasty under monitored anesthesia care. ⋯ In percutaneous transluminal balloon angioplasty for dysfunctional hemodialysis fistulas, target-controlled infusion with remifentanil Minto model target 2.0 ng/mL with 3 to 4 mg midazolam use provided appropriate hemodynamic conditions, sufficient sedation and analgesia, and acceptable apnea with desaturation.

In oral cancer surgery, the decision to perform a tracheotomy is often determined by the surgeon. In this study, we investigated the competency of clinical scoring systems in identifying patients who require tracheotomy and examined the degree of agreement between the surgeon's decision and the indications of various scoring systems. We identified 110 patients who were surgically treated for oral cancer. ⋯ The κ coefficients of the Gupta and Cameron scores were 0.61 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.40-0.82) and 0.60 (95% CI: 0.38-0.82), respectively. The clinical evaluation of the κ coefficient indicated that the Cameron and Gupta scores agreed fairly with the surgeon's decision. In this study, the Cameron and Gupta scores fairly agreed with the decision of experienced surgeons and were confirmed as acceptable guides for making clinical judgments.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a global health problem that brings us numerous difficulties. Diverse genetic factors play a significant role in the progress of TB disease. However, still no key genes for TB susceptibility have been reported. This study aimed to identify the key genes of TB through comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. ⋯ We conclude that these genes, including TAT1, GBP5, OAS1, CTNNB1, GBP1 are a candidate as potential core genes in TB and treatment of TB in the future.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
Analysis of homosexual behavior characteristics and influencing factors of male college students in Zhejiang Province.
The purpose of this study was to understand the homosexual behavior characteristics and influencing factors of male college students and to provide scientific evidence for the prevention of HIV infection in college students. A self-made online questionnaire was used to collect information on demographic characteristics, sexual attitudes, sexual behaviors, and interventions of the respondents. The χ2 test was performed on the constituent ratios of different groups, and whether homosexual behavior occurred was the dependent variable. ⋯ A total of 2665 students were surveyed, including 219 men who have sex with men, accounting for 8.22% of the sample population. Multivariate analysis revealed the following independent influencing factors of homosexual behavior among male college students: the student's household registration was Zhejiang Province, the hometown was in the city, accepted male homosexual sex, had temporary sex in the last year, and awareness that the correct use of condoms can reduce the spread and risk of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Various measures should be enacted to promote human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome education and intervention among college students, especially emphasizing making friends and advocating safe sex to prevent the spread of the disease.

It was reported imperative on cervical sagittal alignment reconstruction after anterior multilevel procedures with self-locked stand-alone cage (SSC) or anterior cage-with-plate (ACP) system multilevel while there was little knowledge about the relationship on cervical alignment and clinical outcomes. To identify the importance of cervical sagittal alignment after 3-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion on cervical spondylotic myelopathy with SSC and ACP system. Seventy-seven patients with SSC system (SSC group) and 52 cases with ACP system (ACP group) from February 2007 to September 2013 were enrolled with well-matched demographics. ⋯ The changes of CL were not correlated to NDI, JOA, VAS, and their change. SSC and ACP group both provide improved OPCL and efficacy on 3-level cervical spondylotic myelopathy with little impact on adjacent segment. The change of CL is not correlated to clinical outcomes.
