Meta Analysis
Efficacy and safety of Naoxintong capsule for acute ischemic stroke: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.
Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is one of the most common causes of mortality and disability worldwide, which has become a global health concern due to the high prevalence, mortality, and disability rate. Naoxintong capsule is an oral Chinese patent preparation used extensively to treat AIS in China. However, the systematic evaluation on the clinical efficacy and safety of Naoxintong capsule is still absent. Therefore, we attempt to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis based on the existing evidence, in order to provide solid support for the clinical practice of Naoxintong capsule in the treatment of AIS. ⋯ INPLASY202180052.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common chronic joint disease with serious health economic burden. More and more randomized controlled trials have indicated that traditional Chinese non-pharmacological therapy, including acupuncture, Tai Chi, Tuina, etc can significantly improve pain and physical function of patients with KOA. However, the effects of traditional Chinese non-pharmacological therapy for KOA remain controversial. Most previous systematic reviews did not focus on the effects of traditional Chinese non-pharmacological therapy for KOA as a whole. In Chinese community hospital, however, acupuncture, Tuina, and Tai Chi are usually in the management of KOA as whole-body treatment. ⋯ INPLASY202170098.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of the effects of dexmedetomidine and remifentanil on perioperative hemodynamics and recovery profile of patients undergoing laryngeal microsurgery: A prospective randomized double-blinded study.
Laryngeal microsurgery (LMS) causes hemodynamic instability and postoperative agitation, cough, pain, nausea, and vomiting. Moreover, because of a short operation time, it is associated with challenging anesthetic management. The aim of this study was to compare the usefulness of continuous administration of dexmedetomidine and remifentanil in inducing general anesthesia in patients undergoing LMS. ⋯ Although there was a transient delay in emergence time, dexmedetomidine reduced postoperative opioid use and the incidence of sore throat. Dexmedetomidine may be used as an alternative agent to opioids in patients undergoing LMS.

Meta Analysis
The predictive and prognostic effects of PD-L1 expression on TKI treatment and survival of EGFR-mutant NSCLC: A meta-analysis.
Whether programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression could predict the outcome of tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment and prognosis of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is remaining controversial. Potential studies were search from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases. Pooled odds ratio of objective response rate was used to describe the relationship between PD-L1 expression and primary resistance to EGFR-TKIs. ⋯ Furthermore, PD-L1 expression was not a predictive biomarker for the OS (HR [95% CI] = 1.43 [0.98-2.08], P = .062) in overall EGFR-mutant cohort. Positive PD-L1 expression indicated a higher incidence of primary resistance, but did not correlate with the PFS or OS of EGFR-TKI therapy. In addition, PD-L1 expression was unlikely a predictive biomarker for prognosis of EGFR-mutant NSCLCs.

Recently, the number of osteosarcomas has been increasing in elderly patients due to human longevity. Lung metastases are the primary cause of death from osteosarcomas. Complete resection of lung metastases can prolong the survival. However, complete resection in elderly patients is often difficult due to high risk of operative complications. Computed tomography (CT) guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive technique to destroy tumor nodules using heat. In this report, we present the first case older than 65 years applying RFA for lung metastases due to osteosarcoma. ⋯ CT-guided lung RFA is effective for elderly patients with osteosarcoma lung metastases in spite of discouragement of lung metastasectomy due to multiplicity of metastases and medical-comorbidities.
