Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) occurrence. In this work, we assessed the incidence and predictive factors of VTE in our "real-life" cohort of RA patients. To contextualize our results, we reviewed the available literature about this topic. ⋯ Comparing our results with previous data derived from randomized controlled trials and administrative data, some different findings were retrieved about incidence of VTE. Assessing predictive factors, older age, higher body mass index, and longer disease duration resulted to be significant predictors of VTE occurrence during the follow-up. Taking together these observations, a further evaluation of this issue on specific designed studies is needed to provide more generalizable results to the daily clinical practice.

Efficacy and tolerability of doxazosin gastro-intestinal therapeutic system versus tamsulosin in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonists (α1-blockers) are first-line drugs for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Doxazosin gastrointestinal therapeutic system (GITS) and tamsulosin belong to the 2 most frequently prescribed α1-blockers. This systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to compare the efficacy and tolerability of these 2 α1-blockers. ⋯ This meta-analysis indicates that doxazosin-GITS has significantly higher efficacy and lower AEs than tamsulosin in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms/benign prostate hyperplasia.

Adjuvant ovarian suppression for premenopausal hormone receptor-positive breast cancer: A network meta-analysis.
Ovarian function suppressor (OFS) plus either tamoxifen (TAM) or aromatase inhibitor (AI) could improve the survival outcome for premenopausal hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer. However, the optimal OFS-based regimen and medication duration remain uncertain. This article aims to systematically evaluate the OFS-based adjuvant endocrine therapy for premenopausal breast cancer. ⋯ OFS+TAM might be a better option than OFS+AI for premenopausal intensive adjuvant endocrine therapy. Stage III patients are more suitable for the OFS-based therapy. For the medication duration, the 2-years course of OFS+TAM could be effective. This analysis provides helpful information for selecting therapeutic regimen in intensive adjuvant endocrine therapy and identifying the target population.

We sought to synthesize the evidence about aerobic exercise intervention during pulmonary rehabilitation, and to further explore the difference in rehabilitation effects between water and land-based aerobic exercise. This review's purpose is to provide a basis by which practitioners and therapists can select and create appropriate therapeutic programs. ⋯ Medium to high-quality evidence shows that aerobic exercise can effectively improve dyspnea and exercise capacity in COPD patients. Compared with land-based aerobic exercise, water-based aerobic exercise had a significant additional effect in improving the endurance exercise capacity of COPD patients.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a strong cause of global cancer mortality. Nucleotide excision repair (NER) can modulate platinum-based chemotherapeutic efficacy by removing drug-produced DNA damage. Some studies have found a link between excision repair cross complementation group 1 (ERCC1) rs2298881, one gene in NER pathway, and response to chemotherapy. However, the results have been disputed. ⋯ ERCC1 rs2298881 is suggested as a marker of clinical outcome in gastric cancer patients treated by platinum-based chemotherapy.
