Induction chemotherapy (IC) and adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) are used to enhance tumor locoregional control and support early treatment for distant metastases. However, optimum combinatorial treatment of these chemoradiotherapy regimens with radiotherapy in curing locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains unclear. Here, we evaluate the efficacy and therapeutic outcome of a combinatorial treatment strategy involving IC, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), and AC, by retrospectively analyzing 243 NPC patients who were treated by IC followed by IMRT and AC. ⋯ All survival indicators were adversely affected by T-category, while N-category could only predict DFFR and PFS. Radiation dosage represented as a second prognostic factor for local control. We propose that IC combined with IMRT and AC for locoregionally advanced NPC shows effective treatment outcomes.

High-impact aerobics programme supplemented by pelvic floor muscle training does not impair the function of pelvic floor muscles in active nulliparous women: A randomized control trial.
We aimed to test the hypothesis that high-impact aerobics programme, combined with pelvic floor muscle training does not impair pelvic floor muscle function in young active women. ⋯ High-impact aerobics, supplemented by pelvic floor muscle training can be recommended for active nulliparas.

Given the lack of evidence for survival benefit in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma from the addition of radiation therapy to tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy, this Bayesian network meta-analysis aimed to evaluate survival outcomes in patients receiving radiation therapy plus tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy. ⋯ A Bayesian network meta-analysis is an appropriate statistical method to compare all treatment options by statistically simulating the estimated results of a comprehensive trial, and to compare treatments by common and associated comparators. In addition, Bayesian network meta-analysis can produce ranking probabilities of treatments, which may contribute to clinicians' clinical decision-making.

To determine the prognostic risk factors of patients with acute epidural hematoma (AEDH), a scoring system was established based on gray-white matter ratio (GWR) and internal verification was performed. All patients with AEDH who underwent surgical treatment in Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital from January 2013 to June 2019 were continuously collected. The clinical and imaging data of the patients were collected. ⋯ Moreover, the prediction ability of nomogram was higher than any other independent predictive factors. The nomogram model established represents the most effective factor to predict the prognosis of operated AEDH. The scoring system is characterized by high accuracy, simplicity and feasibility, with a wide range of clinical application prospects.

The occurrence of post-stroke emotional problems is significant during the early post-stroke stage and affects the recovery of functionality among the survivors. Because stroke survivors require active engagement in rehabilitation to optimize the process of neuroplasticity in the initial stage of stroke, there is a need to integrate an intervention, preferably therapists-mediated during rehabilitation, which reduce emotional problems thus improve motivation level among the survivors. One such technique is autogenic relaxation training (ART). ART has been found to reduce anxiety and depression among patients with several medical conditions. However, its usage in stroke survivors during rehabilitation has been limited to date. Therefore, this study is intended to evaluate the effectiveness of ART in addition to usual physiotherapy in improving emotional state and functional level of stroke survivors during rehabilitation. ⋯ The expected main study outcome is an enhanced evidence-based physiotherapy program that may be used by physiotherapists in the rehabilitation of stroke patients with emotional disturbances.
