Dasatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), induces pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). However, information on other TKIs is limited. We retrospectively analyzed PH prevalence by reviewing transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) findings in a population of Korean CML patients treated with TKI at a single hospital between 2003 and 2020. ⋯ In multivariate analyses, age >60 years, dasatinib treatment, and positive cardiopulmonary symptoms/signs at the time of transthoracic echocardiography were statistically significant risk factors for developing PH. These results show that PH is induced not only by dasatinib, but also by imatinib and nilotinib. Careful screening for PH during any TKI treatment may thus be warranted in patients with CML.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) and exertional rhabdomyolysis (ERM) have long been considered episodic phenotypes occurring in response to external triggers in otherwise healthy individuals with variants in RYR1. However, recent studies have demonstrated a clinical and histopathological continuum between patients with RYR1-related congenital myopathies and those with ERM or MH susceptibility. Furthermore, animal studies have shown non-neuromuscular features such as a mild bleeding disorder and an immunological gain-of-function associated with MH/ERM related RYR1 variants raising important questions for further research. Awareness of the neuromuscular disease spectrum and potential multisystem involvement in RYR1-related MH and ERM is essential to optimize the diagnostic work-up, improve counselling and and future treatment strategies for patients affected by these conditions. This study will examine in detail the nature and severity of continuous disease manifestations and their effect on daily life in patients with RYR1-related MH and ERM. ⋯ This study will increase knowledge of the full spectrum of neuromuscular and multisystem features of RYR1-related MH and ERM and will establish a well-characterized baseline cohort for future studies on RYR1-related disorders. The results of this study are expected to improve recognition of RYR1-related symptoms, counselling and a more personalized approach to patients affected by these conditions. Furthermore, results will create new insights in the role of the immune system in the pathophysiology of MH and ERM.

Intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is heterogeneous in terms of tumor size, number, and effects on liver function. Various noninvasive models have been proposed to assess functional hepatic reserve or fibrosis severity in patients with HCC. This study assessed the feasibility of 10 noninvasive models and compared their prognostic ability for patients with intermediate-stage HCC. ⋯ In subgroup analyses, the Lok index, platelet-albumin-bilirubin score, ALBI score, and Lok index had the highest AUROC values in patients without cirrhosis, with cirrhosis, undergoing TACE, and undergoing surgery, respectively. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that independent predictors of longer OS were ALBI grade 1 in all patients, patients with LC, and patients undergoing TACE and Lok index grade 1 in patients without LC and patients undergoing surgery. Among the 10 noninvasive models, ALBI score exhibited the highest diagnostic value in predicting OS for all patients, patients with cirrhosis, and those undergoing TACE, and Lok index grade exhibited the highest diagnostic value in predicting OS in patients without cirrhosis and those undergoing surgery.

The molecular mechanism of Glioma is still unclear, and there are few early diagnostic markers. Therefore, it is urgent to figure out effective preventive measures, active diagnostic methods and rapid treatment measures. In recent years, relevant studies have revealed that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is associated with the prognosis of Glioma. However, these results have not been supported by any evidence. Therefore, this study carried out a meta-analysis method to analyze the relationship between lncRNA and the prognosis of Glioma. In addition, bioinformatics analysis was conducted to investigate the mechanism and related pathways of lncRNAs in Glioma. ⋯ This study will provide evidence-based medical evidence for lncRNA, so as to predict the prognosis of Glioma and bioinformatics analysis will provide ideas for the mechanism study on Glioma.

The prognostic impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection has not been well evaluated. We estimated the prognostic implications of AF in SARS-CoV-2 confirmed patients. The OpenData4Covid19 (https://hira-covid19.net) project is a global research collaboration on coronavirus disease (COVID-19), hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Korea and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service of Korea. ⋯ However, AF was not an independent predictor of the primary endpoint (OR: 1.402, 95% CI: 0.932-2.108). Patients with AF and concomitant SARS-CoV-2 infection had more comorbidities and a worse prognosis. However, an independent association between AF and adverse clinical outcomes was not evident.
