Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) almost metastasizes to every organ, the possibility of adrenal metastasis is relatively low in patients that have undergone radical nephrectomy, only a few cases of bilateral adrenal metastasis are reported on literature. Although surgical treatment of metastases from RCC is preferred and contributes to the rate of survival, it is considered challenging to manage such cases due to the rarity of bilateral metastasis to the adrenal glands. ⋯ Bilateral metastatic adrenal recurrence from RCC is very rare. Early diagnosis of adrenal metastasis is challenging because they are usually silent both anatomically and functionally. Surgical intervention is a wise option for these patients that may improve survival, and metachronous bilateral adrenalectomy is proved to be safe and effective.

Low specificity and operator dependency are the main problems of breast ultrasound (US) screening. We investigated the added value of deep learning-based computer-aided diagnosis (S-Detect) and shear wave elastography (SWE) to B-mode US for evaluation of breast masses detected by screening US. Between February 2018 and June 2019, B-mode US, S-Detect, and SWE were prospectively obtained for 156 screening US-detected breast masses in 146 women before undergoing US-guided biopsy. ⋯ The addition of SWE to B-mode US also increased the specificity from 8%-9% to 41%-75% and the AUC from 0.541-0.545 to 0.709-0.823 in all radiologists (All P < .001). There was no significant loss in sensitivity when either S-Detect or SWE were added to B-mode US. Adding S-Detect or SWE to B-mode US improved the specificity and AUC without loss of sensitivity.

Real-world clinical cases of molecularly targeted agent (MTA) administration to patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with ≥50% liver occupation have been reported, but treatment outcomes have rarely been described. We have encountered several cases in which albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) scores deteriorated markedly and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels elevated in the early post-dose period. The present study therefore investigated early clinical changes in ALBI score and CRP levels after initiating MTA in advanced HCC patients with ≥50% liver occupation, focusing on antitumor response at 6 weeks. ⋯ These significant differences between groups had again disappeared at 4 and 6 weeks. In PD patients, no difference between groups in CRP elevation occurred at 1 and 2 weeks. In MTA treatment for patients with ≥50% liver occupation, to obtain an antitumor response of PR + SD, adequate management might be important considering transient deteriorated ALBI scores and elevated CRP levels.

To provide references for global pandemic prevention and control, this study aimed to analyze the epidemiological characteristics and clinical manifestations of 103 new confirmed cases between June 12 and June 15, 2020, in Beijing. All confirmed cases in this study were tested with a positive SARS-CoV-2 reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and extracting data from the Beijing Municipal Health Commission (June 11 to July 6, 2020). We selected the 103 typical confirmed cases (excluding imported cases) between June 12 and June 15 for statistical analysis and explored differences among different clinical cases. ⋯ Different clinical classification in age (P = .041), exposure history (P = .025), fever (P = .020), and cough (P = .000) were the statistically significant difference, but there was no statistically significant difference in gender (P = .501), the type of diagnosis (P = .478), expectoration (P = .979), fatigue (P = .906), dizziness or headache (P = .848), muscle pain (P = .825), sore throat or throat discomfort (P = .852), chills (P = .933), diarrhea (P = .431) and runny nose or nasal congestion (P = .898). This study shows that Beijing's epidemic scope was mainly concentrated in the Xinfadi Market. The initial cases were epidemiologically related to the BXM, the clinical classification of most cases was mild and moderate, and the differences in age, exposure history, fever, and cough among different clinical cases were statistically significant.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) disease outbreak was a public health emergency of international concern which eventually evolved into a pandemic. Nigeria was locked down in March, 2020 as the country battled to contain the spread of the disease. By August 2020, phase-by-phase easing of the lockdown was commenced and university students will soon return for academic activities. ⋯ In general, the epidemiological attributes of the pandemic from the original data and the forecast data indicated optimism in the decrease in the rate of infection and death in the future. Moreover, the infection rate, prevalence and death rate in January 2021 coincided with the predictions based on the analysis. Therefore, the Nigerian government is encouraged to allow universities in the country to reopen while university administrators set up the necessary protocols for strict adherence to safety measures.
