Cyclin F (CCNF) dysfunction has been implicated in various forms of cancer, offering a new avenue for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms underlying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to evaluate the role of CCNF in HCC using publicly available data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). ⋯ High CCNF expression can be seen as an independent risk factor for poor survival in HCC. Its expression may serve as a target for the diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in children, and embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma is the most typical type of rhabdomyosarcoma. The heterogeneity, etiology, and origin of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma remain unknown. After obtaining the gene expression data of every cell in the tumor tissue by single-cell RNA sequencing, we used the Seurat package in R studio for quality control, analysis, and exploration of the data. ⋯ Tumor cells were divided into 5 subgroups according to their functions, which were characterized by high proliferation, sensing and adaptation to oxygen availability, enhanced epigenetic modification, enhanced nucleoside phosphonic acid metabolism, and ossification. Evolution trajectory of cells in tumor tissues is obtained. We used pseudo-time analysis to distinguish between mesenchymal stem cells and fibroblasts, proved that embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in the pelvic originated from skeletal muscle progenitor cells, showed the evolutionary trajectory of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, and improved the method of evaluating the degree of malignancy of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Over-expression of vitronectin (VN) is associated with tumorigenesis. The present study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of VN expression in gastric cancer. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis was performed to screen the hub gene from The Cancer Genome Atlas gastric cancer patients with complete follow-up data, and 347 patients were finally included. ⋯ A prognostic risk score for OS was built based on VN expression. A meta-analysis from Oncomine datasets revealed that significantly lower VN mRNA levels in gastric cancer correlated with poorer OS. VN expression could be a prognostic marker of gastric cancer.

To investigate computed tomography (CT) diagnostic reference levels for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia by collecting radiation exposure parameters of the most performed chest CT examinations and emphasize the necessity of low-dose CT in COVID-19 and its significance in radioprotection. The survey collected RIS data from 2119 chest CT examinations for 550 COVID-19 patients performed in 92 hospitals from January 23, 2020 to May 1, 2020. Dose data such as volume computed tomography dose index, dose-length product, and effective dose (ED) were recorded and analyzed. ⋯ The average number of CT scan times for each patient was 4.0 ± 2.0, and the average time interval between 2 CT scans was 7.0 ± 5.0 days. The average cumulative ED of chest CT examinations for COVID-19 patients in Chongqing, China greatly exceeded public limit and the annual dose limit of occupational exposure in a short period. For patients with known or suspected COVID-19, a chest CT should be performed on the principle of rapid-scan, low-dose, single-phase protocol instead of routine chest CT protocol to minimize radiation doses and motion artifacts.
