Aberrant lipid metabolism is an early event in tumorigenesis and has been found in a variety of tumor types, especially prostate cancer (PCa). Therefore, We hypothesize that PCa can be stratified into metabolic subgroups based on glycolytic and cholesterogenic related genes, and the different subgroups are closely related to the immune microenvironment. Bioinformatics analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical data from a comprehensive cohort of PCa patients was performed. ⋯ The mitochondrial pyruvate carriers (MPC) 1 exhibited expression difference between PCa metabolic subgroups, but not for MPCs 2. Glycolytic subtypes had lower immune cell scores, while Cholesterogenic subgroups had higher immune cell scores. Our results demonstrated that metabolic classifications based on specific glycolytic and cholesterol-producing pathways provide new biological insights into previously established subtypes and may guide develop personalized therapies for unique tumor metabolism characteristics.

Direct puncture the superior ophthalmic vein guiding by Dyna-CT to obliterating a traumatic carotid-cavernous sinus fistula: A case report and literature review.
Traumatic carotid-cavernous sinus fistula (TCCF) is a pathological shunt between the carotid arteries and cavernous sinus due to trauma. Imaging-guided (e.g., ultrasonic image and fluoroscopic roadmap image) direct puncture of the superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) for embolization of TCCF has been previously described in other studies. ⋯ This case illustrates that direct puncture of the SOV guided by Dyna-CT as an alternative approach to embolization of TCCF is safe, effective, and feasible.

Coexistence of congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency, Graves' disease and 47, XXX is rare. We report a case of a 25-year-old woman presented with masculine appearance, hirsutism and enlarged clitoris. Lab tests showed elevated serum 17 hydroxyprogesterone, testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone. Gene test revealed heterozygous gene mutation in CYP21A2:NM_000500:exon4:c.518 T > A, NM_000500:exon8:c.C1024T. Karyotype analysis showed 47, XXX. After prednisone replacement and antithyroid therapy, she got a normal menstruation and normal level of testosterone. These findings demonstrate that patients with abnormal chromosome are likely to combine 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD), thus karyotyping test should not be neglected for those who have been already diagnosed as 21-OHD. Additionally, chromosomal abnormality such as 47, XXX and Turner syndrome had susceptibility to develop autoimmune thyroid disease because a gene on X chromosome may be responsible for the occurrence of autoimmune thyroid disease. Moreover, both 21-OHD and Graves' disease (GD) can lead to high level of testosterone, thus we should keep in mind to test chromosome and thyroid function in 21-OHD patients to avoid misdiagnose or missed diagnosis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of simple virilizing (SV) 21-OHD patient combined with 47, XXX and Graves disease. ⋯ Patients with abnormal chromosome are likely to combine 21-OHD, thus karyotyping test should not be neglected for those who have been already diagnosed as 21-OHD. We previously reported that oral herpesviruses, such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), are associated with periodontitis. However, the relationship between oral EBV or dual oral EBV and Porphyromonas gingivalis infections and periodontal inflammation severity remains unclear. We conducted this study to determine the relationship between oral EBV and P gingivalis prevalence and the periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA) in middle-aged and older adults. ⋯ Logistic regression analysis revealed that dual infection with EBV and P gingivalis was significantly associated with diabetes (odds ratio = 3.37, 95% confidence interval: 1.13-10.1; P = .03). Oral EBV prevalence is associated with oral hygiene and the spread of inflamed periodontal tissue. Diabetes may be a risk factor for dual infection with oral EBV and P gingivalis.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been extensively used in the management of patients with a herniated lumbar disc. Nevertheless, immediate postoperative MRI has not become a standard procedure, with limited research suggesting that the findings are often similar to preoperative MRI in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. This study aimed to determine the benefits of immediate postoperative MRI in patients with or without postoperative symptoms and its correlation with these symptoms. ⋯ Intraoperative bleeding and the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) showed significant correlations with postoperative pain (P = .018 and .002, respectively). In a multivariate analysis, intraoperative blood loss and CCI independently correlated with postoperative pain (P = .001 and .001, respectively). Based on our findings, intraoperative blood loss and CCI appear to be the factors that may predict the persistence of postoperative pain, despite normal findings on MRI.
