Direct puncture the superior ophthalmic vein guiding by Dyna-CT to obliterating a traumatic carotid-cavernous sinus fistula: A case report and literature review.
Traumatic carotid-cavernous sinus fistula (TCCF) is a pathological shunt between the carotid arteries and cavernous sinus due to trauma. Imaging-guided (e.g., ultrasonic image and fluoroscopic roadmap image) direct puncture of the superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) for embolization of TCCF has been previously described in other studies. ⋯ This case illustrates that direct puncture of the SOV guided by Dyna-CT as an alternative approach to embolization of TCCF is safe, effective, and feasible.

Mind the tributary of the canal: Are stents necessary for insulinoma enucleation in proximity to a prominent Duct of Santorini: A case report and literature review.
We describe a case of insulinoma located extremely close to the accessory pancreatic duct (APD), but away from the main pancreatic duct (MPD). Previous studies showed insulinoma enucleation is a safe procedure for small benign tumors >3 mm distant from the MPD. However, in this case enucleation of the tumor led to unanticipated APD injury and grade B post-operative pancreatic fistula (POPF). We provide detailed records of clinical management and argue that enucleation of tumors near APD needs to be carefully weighed. ⋯ Benign pancreatic tumor close to the APD need to be evaluated carefully and clinical evidence is warranted to affirm the necessity of placing a pancreatic duct stent before the surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Comparison of the effects of sevoflurane and desflurane on the severity score of postoperative pain and discomfort after thyroidectomy: A prospective, double-blinded, randomized controlled study.
Thyroidectomy is performed under general anesthesia using inhaled anesthetics such as sevoflurane or desflurane in many cases. The objective of this study was to investigate whether the incidence of postoperative pain and discomfort after thyroidectomy differed with the type of inhaled anesthetic. ⋯ In patients undergoing thyroidectomy under general anesthesia using sevoflurane or desflurane, except for dizziness on the day of surgery, no other manifestation of postoperative pain and discomfort was influenced by the type of inhaled anesthetic. Moreover, after thyroidectomy, postoperative sore throat caused the greatest discomfort to patients from the day of surgery to the seventh day after surgery.

Meta Analysis
Role of ultrasound-guided technique in the treatment of gynecologic diseases: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided interventional procedures for gynecologic diseases have not been evaluated comprehensively. Therefore, we aimed to provide an evidence-based medical reference for clinical treatment in this meta-analysis. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided technique in treating gynecologic diseases exerted a positive effect and had fewer adverse reactions, which could be popularized and applied in clinical practice.

Although ultrasound (US) guided axillary vein (AV) catheterization has been well described, evidence for its efficacy and safety compared with conventional infraclavicular landmark guided subclavian vein (SCV) cannulation have not been comprehensively appraised. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine whether US guided AV catheterization reduces catheterization failures and adverse events compared to SCV puncture based on landmark technique. ⋯ This meta-analysis indicates that US guided AV catheterization reduces catheterization failures and mechanical complications compared with conventional landmark guided SCV puncture.
