Esophageal carcinosarcoma is a rare type of esophageal cancer; however, few studies have investigated the effects of radiotherapy in locally advanced patients. This study aimed to report experience of the safety and efficacy of intensity-modulated radiotherapy for locally advanced esophageal carcinosarcoma and review the literature. By searching the institutional database between January 2010 and December 2020, along with the literature review, 25 patients were eligible for the study. ⋯ When considering the literature review data in the final analysis, overall survival (HR 0.84, 95% CI, 0.25-2.81; P = .779) and progression-free survival (HR, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.26-1.76; P = .425) were also not different between the 2 groups. Treatment based on intensity-modulated radiotherapy with neoadjuvant or curative intent may be an option for patients with unresectable esophageal carcinosarcoma. Further research with a larger sample size is needed to validate the reliability.

To investigate the influence of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on lipid profiles of the patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in this meta-analysis. ⋯ Regardless of the treatment in CPAP duration, it doses does not influence lipid profiles of OSA patients, including TC, TG, LDL and HDL. The results are inconsistent with previous findings, which should be further validated in the multi-center, long-term randomized controlled trials.

The lateral sprain of the ankle is a very frequent injury in the population in general, appearing in the emergency services frequently. The general objective was to review the current clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) on management and treatment of ankle sprains, assess their quality, analyze the levels of evidence and summarize the grades of recommendation. ⋯ Six of the recommendations analyzed present enough evidence to be applied in clinical practice and are highly recommended for ankle sprain management: Ottawa rules, manual therapy, cryotherapy, functional supports, early ambulation, short term NSAIDs and rehabilitation.

The mortality and recurrence of patients with cancer is of high prevalence. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) forkhead box P4 antisense RNA 1 (FOXP4-AS1) is a promising lncRNA. There is increasing evidence that lncRNA FOXP4-AS1 is abnormally expressed in various tumors and is associated with cancer prognosis. This study was designed to identify the prognostic value of lncRNA FOXP4-AS1 in human malignancies. ⋯ In this meta-analysis, we demonstrate that high lncRNA FOXP4-AS1 expression may become a potential marker to predict cancer prognosis.

The study aims to provide a comprehensive account of the association between the epidermal growth factor (EGF) + 61A/G polymorphism (rs4444903) and susceptibility to virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ This pooled analysis found that EGF + 61A/G polymorphism was significantly associated with the risk of HCC.
