Review Case Reports
Lipoma with osteocartilaginous metaplasia in infrapatellar fat pad: A case report and review of literature.
Lipomas are tumors composed of mature adipocytes, originating from the mesoderm, and are the most common soft tissue tumor. According to the World Health Organization classification of human soft tissue and bone tumors, there are 14 types of benign tumors, including mature adipose tissue. Osteolipoma is known as the rarest subtype of lipoma. ⋯ Lipoma with osteochondral degeneration is a rare variant of lipoma and it is important to differentiate it from other malignant tumors. Pathological confirmation should be performed after marginal resection of the mass.

Esophageal carcinosarcoma is a rare type of esophageal cancer; however, few studies have investigated the effects of radiotherapy in locally advanced patients. This study aimed to report experience of the safety and efficacy of intensity-modulated radiotherapy for locally advanced esophageal carcinosarcoma and review the literature. By searching the institutional database between January 2010 and December 2020, along with the literature review, 25 patients were eligible for the study. ⋯ When considering the literature review data in the final analysis, overall survival (HR 0.84, 95% CI, 0.25-2.81; P = .779) and progression-free survival (HR, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.26-1.76; P = .425) were also not different between the 2 groups. Treatment based on intensity-modulated radiotherapy with neoadjuvant or curative intent may be an option for patients with unresectable esophageal carcinosarcoma. Further research with a larger sample size is needed to validate the reliability.

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common complication in inpatient and outpatient settings. Multimodal approaches have been pursued to minimize this undesirable outcome. Despite consensus guidelines for the management of PONV have been updated and published for many years, data from our pilot study showed that patients with high-risk surgeries for PONV, laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), still hardly received perioperative PONV prophylaxis. This study aimed to compare the incidences of PONV in adult patients undergoing elective LC who were administered preoperative intravenous fluid loading, ondansetron, or neither fluid nor ondansetron in the setting of a regional hospital in a developing country. ⋯ Neither the preoperative intravenous fluid loading nor the ondansetron affected PONV in patients aged 50 and older undergoing LC, compared with control. Ondansetron was beneficial for PON prophylaxis in patients under the age of 50, whereas preoperative intravenous fluid loading was considered a risk factor for PON in this population.

Meta Analysis
Meta-analysis of the prognostic value of circulating tumor cells in gastrointestinal cancer.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) has become a new strategy for predicting the prognosis of cancer patients. However, limited systematic research evidence is available for the detection of CTCs in various gastrointestinal tumors such as esophageal cancer (EC), colorectal cancer (CRC) and gastric cancer (GC). This topic was addressed to assess the prognostic significance of CTCs in gastrointestinal tumors. ⋯ Our meta-analysis suggests that detecting CTCs in peripheral blood may be an important tool for improving the prognosis of patients with gastrointestinal tumors. Moreover, CTCs detection results could be used to develop personalized treatment plans in the future.

To analyze the diagnosis performance of deep learning model used in corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) computer tomography(CT) chest scans. The included sample contains healthy people, confirmed COVID-19 patients and unconfirmed suspected patients with corresponding symptoms. ⋯ Our study findings show that deep learning models have immense potential in accurately stratifying COVID-19 patients and in correctly differentiating them from patients with other types of pneumonia and normal patients. Implementation of deep learning-based tools can assist radiologists in correctly and quickly detecting COVID-19 and, consequently, in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
