To investigate the influence of interpersonal emotion regulation and conscientiousness on team emotional intelligence. A total of 1369 college students were investigated with the conscientiousness subscale of Big Five Personality Questionnaire, Team Emotional Intelligence Scale and Leadership Positive Emotional Operation Questionnaire. Variance analysis, Pearson product difference correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis were used. ⋯ Conscientiousness significantly predicted team emotional intelligence, and leadership's positive emotional operation. Furthermore, conscientiousness could predict team emotional intelligence through mediating individual emotional intelligence. Interpersonal positive emotion regulation played a part of mediating role between conscientiousness and team emotional intelligence.

To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of 2-18fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) and ultrasound (US) for staging patients with malignant melanoma. ⋯ 18F-FDG PET/CT is preferable to US for detecting both lymph node and abdominal metastases.

We have implemented several preventive measures to reduce central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) in the general intensive care unit (ICU) of a university hospital in Japan. Here, we analyzed the factors associated with CLABSI in patients with central venous catheter (CVC) insertions and evaluated the effects of our implemented preventive measures. From July 2013 to June 2018, data was collected from the medical records of 1472 patients with 1635 CVC insertions, including age, sex, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) score, duration of ICU stay, duration of catheter insertion, insertion site, and mechanical ventilation status. ⋯ Adjusted odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were as follows: duration of ICU stay, 1.032 (1.019-1.044); duration of catheter insertion, 1.041 (1.015-1.066); and APACHE II score, 1.051 (1.000-1.105). The prominent risk factors were associated with the severity of the initial condition and exacerbation of the clinical condition of the patients during their stays in the ICU. Further strategies to reduce CLABSI must be developed.

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the complication of diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of vision loss among diabetic patients. Metformin is the main antidiabetic treatment. It is preferable for its great anti-angiogenic and anti-inflammatory effects. ⋯ Furthermore, a considerable gain in visual acuity was observed in both groups, with a BCVA gain of 40.41% in the metformin group and 39.9% in the non-metformin group. Metformin may be combined with an anti-VEGF drug to minimize the risk of anti-VEGF resistance among DME patients. Moreover, it can serve to design effective therapeutic deliveries.

Distant metastasis explains the high mortality rate of colon cancer, in which lung metastasis without liver metastasis (LuM) is a rare subtype. This study is aimed to identify risk factors of LuM and LLM (lung metastasis with liver metastasis) from colon cancer, and to analyze the prognosis of patients with LuM by creating a nomogram. Patients' information were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. ⋯ In addition, age, primary site, tumor size, differentiation grade, N stage, and bone metastasis were significantly different between LuM and LLM. The nomograms we created were effective in predicting the survival of individuals. Furthermore, patients with LuM and LLM from colon cancer might require different follow-up intervals and examinations.
