Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with (COVID-19 often result in mortality. Treatment outcomes among puerperant, when compared with non-pregnant women (NPW) with the same syndrome. Physiological changes underwent within the gestation period have a considerable impact on the immune system, respiratory system, cardiovascular function, and coagulation. ⋯ The duration of mechanical ventilation was similar in both groups (P; .07), while the mortality rate was lower in the puerperant group (P; .004). The postpartum women with COVID-19 induced ARDS were observed to have better ICU follow-up results and lower mortality. However, it is considered that the present results need to be supported greater number of participants.

The first diagnostic tool for thyroid disease management is ultrasound. Despite its importance, ultrasound is an extremely subjective procedure that requires a high level of performance skill. Few studies have assessed thyroid ultrasound performance and its effectiveness, particularly the variability between observers in the assessment of ultrasound images. ⋯ The interobserver reproducibility for thyroid nodule ultrasound reporting was adequate, but the diagnostic evaluation ability of the observers was inconsistent. The variability in the interpretation of sonographic features could influence the level of suspicion of thyroid malignancy. This study emphasizes the need for consistency in the training of sonographic interpretation of thyroid nodules, particularly for echogenicity, shape, and margin.

The vancomycin dosing range for safe and effective treatment remains uncertain for children who had corrective surgery for a congenital heart disease (CHD). We aimed to determine the vancomycin dosing requirements for this subgroup of patients. This prospective cohort study included children younger than 14 years old with CHD who received intravenous vancomycin for at least 3 days at the Pediatric Cardiology section of King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh. ⋯ However, the patients in the pediatric cardiac ward required higher doses of vancomycin 41.08 ± 7.06 mg/kg/day (P = .039). After the treatment, 11 (8.5%) patients had an elevated Scr, and 3 (2.3%) patients developed AKI; however, none of the patients' sociodemographic factors or clinical variables, or vancomycin therapy characteristics was significantly associated with the renal dysfunction. Overall, the vancomycin TDD requirements are lower in pediatric post-cardiac surgery compared to non-cardiac patients and are modulated by several factors.

Rectum ulcer is a disease of the digestive system, the main symptoms of which includes bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, hematochezia, etc. At present, drug therapy and surgery are the most common treatments. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains high concentrations of platelets and has been used to promote wound healing. However, the utilization of PRP in rectal ulcers has rarely been reported. ⋯ PRP treatment may bring about novel treatment options for rectal ulcers.

Suspected adverse events following immunization against SARS-CoV2 in a university hospital in 2021: Observational study.
Vaccination against SARS-CoV2 has been proposed as a fundamental element for the control of the pandemic. This study aimed to describe the suspected adverse reactions (ADR) reported by vaccinated hospital workers. ⋯ The majority of suspected ADR reported were described in the summary of product characteristics (SmPC). Professionals with a history of COVID-19 reported more suspected ADR after the first dose than did those without a history.
