Coronary artery disease (CAD) is among the main causes of morbidities and mortalities globally. It is also considered to be an outcome of acute thrombotic events which entail activating platelets as well as coagulation proteins. In particular, rivaroxaban along with aspirin have been considered to reduce thrombotic events. However, they are yet to be evaluated by combining with or putting them against each other in patients experiencing CAD. This study intends to carry out an evaluation of whether combining rivaroxaben with aspirin will be effective and safe in treating patients experiencing chronic CAD. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/WBGE4.

Respiratory disease has emerged as a global issue due to COVID-19. In particular, there has been an increased frequency of occurrence of symptoms such as cough, sputum, and dyspnea, which commonly accompany chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Liriope platyphylla (LP) extract is known to improve respiratory function. LP extract ameliorates the symptoms commonly seen in bronchitis, asthma, and COPD and enhances immunity, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. In a previous study in rats, LP effectively improved respiratory inflammation levels. However, few randomized controlled trials have verified the effects of LP in respiratory disease and there have been no studies to determine the appropriate dose and duration to make it a more convenient functional health product. Based on previous studies, we would like to proceed with this clinical trial under the assumption that LP will help improve respiratory function and produce anti-inflammatory effects. ⋯ This study has limited inclusion and exclusion criteria and the intervention will be well-controlled. This will be the first randomized controlled trial to assess the efficacy and safety of LP extract in adults with cough and sputum. This study will provide insight into the mechanisms of the anti-inflammatory effects and improvement of respiratory function of LP.

Due to the increasing number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Japan, hospitals are unable to provide admission and immediate inpatient care. The after-hours house call (AHHC) service offers telephone consultations and in-home care to patients awaiting admission. Currently, there is no report on the management of COVID-19 patients when inpatient beds are insufficient. ⋯ Overall, 16.4% of patients died, with 17.6% in the Moderate I group and 15.8% in the Moderate II group. We found the proportion of mortality in patients treated by the AHHC was slightly higher to that of patients treated in Japanese hospitals. This study will provide an alternative management of patients requiring oxygen in situations where hospital beds are in short supply.

Femoral intertrochanteric fractures (ITF) occur frequently in the elderly, accounting for 45% of all hip fractures. Postoperative anemia after fracture tends to cause ischemia, hypoxia in cells, tissues and organs, increasing the rate of blood transfusion, risk of infection, disability and mortality. Meanwhile, traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the treatment of anemia for activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis. ⋯ ITF is commonly occurring in senior citizens, and those who are senior in age generally suffer 1 or more basic diseases, whose nutritional status is already poor. Trauma and surgical stimulation not only aggravate the existing disease or induce corresponding cardiovascular complications, but also worsen the nutritional status, which can easily cause postoperative anemia in patients. Because of the limited clinical modalities available for the treatment of postoperative anemia after fracture surgery, and most of them have various side effects that are not easily tolerated by the elderly. Therefore, from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective, we proposed a protocol using mild Chinese herbal decoction to treat postoperative anemia in ITF.Registration number: OSF Registration number: DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/JQ6ZF.
