Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion, an important oncogenic mutation, occurs in 3% to 7% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cases, and EML4 is the most common partner gene. With the widespread application of next-generation sequencing (NGS), more gene breakpoint fusions have been discovered and functional fusion transcripts can provide targeted clinical benefits. ⋯ ALK fusion is a risk factor for brain metastasis (BM) in patients with advanced non-small NSCLC patients. In our case, a novel CLHC1/RNT4 intergenic region, ALK fusion, was identified for the first time in a lung adenocarcinoma patient with BM, who benefited from crizotinib and endostar sequential alectinib. Our case highlights the advantages of NGS for fusion detection and provides promising treatment options for NSCLC patients with BM harboring ALK fusions.

Perihippocampal failure is a rare clinical scenario in brain metastatic cancer patients following hippocampal-avoidance (HA) whole-brain radiotherapy (HA-WBRT). The clinical features have not been fully identified because clinical data on intracranial failure after HA-WBRT are limited. It is thus necessary to accumulate clinical data. ⋯ We reported unusual cases of intracranial failure in the perihippocampal region following HA-WBRT. Perihippocampal failure could be attributed to an under-dose of radiation partially or be resulted from aggressiveness of cancer per se. Further research on this topic is encouraged.

Acute cerebral artery occlusion is a common disease with high morbidity and mortality. At present, the commonly used mechanical thrombectomy schemes are mechanical thrombectomy and stent thrombectomy. However, the clinical differences between the two methods is not fully understood. The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of Solitaire AB stent thrombectomy for acute cerebral infarction (ACI). ⋯ Solitaire AB stent embolectomy shows similar efficacy as mechanical thrombectomy in the treatment of ACI patients.

Bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BHA) is one of the common procedures done for the treatment of femur neck fracture. One of the frequently encountered complication with this surgery is erosion of the acetabular cartilage. This study was conducted to investigate acetabular erosion after BHA according to the difference in diameter between femoral head and implanted cup at minimum 10-year follow-up. ⋯ All of 3 patient underwent BHA with a larger bipolar cup than the actual femoral head. A lager sized cup accelerated superior cartilage erosion of acetabulum after BHA. An optimal cup size should be considered when undergoing BHA in elderly patients.

Supporting business educators and students against COVID-19 trauma using trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
The outbreak of COVID-19 manifests in peoples' mental health and psychological dispositions and may also result to acute distress, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on victims. The objective of this study was to support business educators' and students' mental health against coronavirus trauma using trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). ⋯ We conclude that mental health problems remain a serious challenge among business educators and students in this COVID-19 pandemic era. The study established that low educational qualifications, PTSD symptoms and negative coping strategies are the factors aggravating the general low mental health of the study participants. Finally, we advocate that the educational institutions in Nigeria should adopt TF-CBT interventions to support staff and students' mental health against adverse effects of COVID-19.
