Keratin 15 (KRT15) overexpression links with tumor initiation, metastasis, and poor survival in several solid carcinomas. While its clinical relevance is scarcely reported in endometrial cancer (EC). Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate the abnormal expression of KRT15 and its correlation with clinical characteristics, survival in EC patients. ⋯ KRT15 protein high was marginally correlated with poor accumulating disease-free survival (DFS) (P = .091) and overall survival (OS) (P = .059); meanwhile, the correlation of KRT15 mRNA expression with accumulating DFS (P = .212) and OS (P = .092) was even weaker. However, multivariate Cox's regressions showed that tumor KRT15 protein (high vs low) was independently correlated with poor DFS (P = .045) and OS (P = .043). KRT15 is abnormally increased in EC tissue, meanwhile, its upregulation links to the occurrence of lymphovascular invasion, stromal cervical invasion, and poor prognosis in EC patients.

To tune and test the generalizability of a deep learning-based model for assessment of COVID-19 lung disease severity on chest radiographs (CXRs) from different patient populations. A published convolutional Siamese neural network-based model previously trained on hospitalized patients with COVID-19 was tuned using 250 outpatient CXRs. This model produces a quantitative measure of COVID-19 lung disease severity (pulmonary x-ray severity (PXS) score). ⋯ Model performance was similar, though slightly lower, when tested on the United States outpatient and Brazil emergency department datasets (R = 0.86 and R = 0.85, respectively). UMAP showed that the model learned disease severity information that generalized across test sets. A deep learning model that extracts a COVID-19 severity score on CXRs showed generalizable performance across multiple populations from 2 continents, including outpatients and hospitalized patients.

Kidney biopsy is the most important tool for diagnosing kidney disease and can be helpful in determining treatment and prognosis. Pathological spectra vary by country, region, race, sex, and age. We are the first to investigate the pathological spectrum of biopsy-proven kidney disease in Gyeongnam province of South Korea. ⋯ Diabetic nephropathy was the most common secondary glomerular disease, followed by lupus nephritis. Tubulointerstitial disease was underestimated, as in other reports. Our data can be a useful reference for diagnosing kidney disease and understanding the patients in our province.

Centrilobular zonal necrosis (CZN) is described as a histological feature present in a small number of autoimmune hepatitis (CZN-AIH) patients. CZN may be detected in the absence of significant interface hepatitis, which is the most important histological finding of AIH. The clinical and histopathological spectra of CZN-AIH were not homogeneous, and the concept of CZN-AIH as a distinctive subtype of AIH remains controversial, due to the rarity of CZN-AIH and the ambiguous definition of CZN. ⋯ CZN can characterize as a distinct AIH subtype, regardless of onset-pattern or coexistence of significant interface hepatitis. To further strengthen this hypothesis, collection of more CZN-AIH cases is needed.

This study aimed to characterize the genetic, pathological, and clinical alterations of 17 patients in China presenting with nondystrophic myotonia (NDM) and to analyze the relationship between genotype and clinical phenotype. ⋯ Myotonia congenita and paramyotonia congenita are the predominant forms of NDM in China. NDM may be best diagnosed using genetic analysis in associated with clinical features.
