Rapid disease progression in neuroemergencies is associated with blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption. We investigated a less invasive strategy for assessing BBB status by evaluating S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) at early stages of the hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) cascade. ⋯ Serum S100B obtained at an early stage of the HIBI cascade is associated with abnormal Qa, suggesting BBB disruption. The predictive performance of S100B and the correlation between serum S100B and Qa can be improved using a complementary strategy (i.e., evaluations of S100B and NSE levels) that combines considerations of cell damage in astrocytes and neurons.

Adjuvant chemotherapy is still the standard treatment for stage III-N2 nonsmall cell lung cancer after R0 resection, and it is still controversial whether conventional adjuvant radiotherapy is needed. We used meta-analysis to try to answer whether adjuvant postoperative chemoradiotherapy (POCRT) can bring survival benefits to patients with stage III-N2 nonsmall cell lung cancer after R0 resection. ⋯ Compared with POCT alone, adjuvant POCRT can significantly improve the overall survival rate of patients with NSCLC after R0 resection of stage III-N2, especially in patients with N2 single-station lymph node metastasis. Accurate radiotherapy techniques such as 3DCRT or IMRT are recommended, and postoperative sequential chemoradiotherapy is the best treatment mode.

Wenjing decoction (WJD) was widely used in the treatment for ovulatory disorder infertility (ODI) in China, while its efficacy was not clearly known. In this study, we evaluated the clinical efficacy of WJD by meta-analysis. ⋯ WJD may be effective in the treatment of patients with ODI. Due to the quality and quantity of literature, RCT with large sample size and high quality need to be performed to verify our conclusion.

Prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio for patients with triple-negative breast cancer: A meta-analysis.
We aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). We searched the PubMed Database, Cochrane Library, Web of science, and Embase. Overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and hazard ratio (HR) were the endpoints of the study. ⋯ Ten studies involving 2054 patients with TNBC explored the role of NLR in predicting DFS; elevated NLR was associated with a significantly worse prognosis with a pooled HR of 2.20 (95% CI: 1.88-2.58, P < 001). This meta-analysis suggests that patients with TNBC who have a higher NLR have poorer prognoses. As a clinical parameter that we can easily obtain, NLR might be a potential predictor of patients' survival, and may be useful for physicians' treatment decisions.

Effects of telecardiac rehabilitation on coronary heart disease: A PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis.
We performed a meta-analysis to investigate the effectiveness of telecardiac rehabilitation compared to center-based rehabilitation on cardiorespiratory fitness, blood pressure, blood lipids, body composition, and quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease. ⋯ Telecardiac rehabilitation was similar to the effects of center-based rehabilitation. The overall prognosis of patients with coronary heart disease can be improved by increasing patients' participation in cardiac rehabilitation through telerehabilitation.
