Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a fatal complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and is an enormous burden on the patient economy and related health systems. Nevertheless, only a few bibliometric studies have examined the direction of research and the major findings within the field. ⋯ Our study provides an exhaustive and objective overview of the current status of GVHD research. This information would be highly beneficial to anyone seeking information on GVHD and would serve as a reference guide for researchers aiming to conduct further GVHD research.

Since SARS-CoV-2 infection was first discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan City in China, it spread rapidly and a global pandemic of COVID-19 has occurred. According to several recent studies on SARS-CoV-2, the virus primarily infects the respiratory system but may cause damage to other systems. ⋯ Nevertheless, there is no clinical evidence in the literature about whether SARS-CoV-2 infection has an impact on male reproductive health. Therefore, this review highlights the effect of SARA-CoV-2 infection on male reproductive health, including the reproductive system and its functioning, as well as gamete and male gonadal function that might be affected by the virus itself or secondary to immunological and inflammatory response, as well as drug treatments and the psychological stress related to panic during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Comparison of radiation exposure to physicians between anteroposterior and lateral real-time fluoroscopy when performing lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections: A randomized controlled trial.
Lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections are used widely to alleviate low back radicular pain, but it requires real-time fluoroscopy, which can increase the risk of radiation exposure. Anteroposterior or lateral real-time fluoroscopy can be used during lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections, but there have been no comparative studies on the exposure of physicians to radiation from anteroposterior or lateral real-time fluoroscopy. The aim of this study was to compare the cumulative radiation exposure to each body part of the physician according to the method of real-time fluoroscopy when performing lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections. ⋯ The cumulative radiation exposure at all the measurement sites was lower for anteroposterior real-time fluoroscopy compared with lateral real-time fluoroscopy when performing lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections, except for outside the groin.

Semi-occlusive management of fingertip injuries with finger caps: A randomized controlled trial in children and adults.
Human fingertips can regenerate functionally and cosmetically excellent skin and soft tissues. Physiological conditions suppress scar formation and are thus a prerequisite for regenerative healing. Self-adhesive film dressings can provide such favorable conditions. The semi-occlusive treatment is superior to surgery. However, standard dressings leak malodorous wound fluid eventually until the wound is dry. Therefore, we developed and tested a silicone finger cap that forms a mechanically protected, wet chamber around the injury. Its puncturable reservoir allows access to the wound fluid for diagnostic and research purposes and the delivery of pro-regenerative drugs in the future. ⋯ Employing the summative or synthetic primary endpoint "patient decision for one or the other procedure," our pseudocross-over-designed RCT succeeded in statistically significantly demonstrating the superiority of the silicone finger cap over conventional film therapy. The finger cap was safe and effective, reaching excellent results on all treated injuries without any need for disinfection, antibiotics, shortening of protruding bones, or treatment of hypergranulations. Distal to the tendon insertions, we did not see any limitations regarding injury mechanism, amputation plane, or patients' age.

Benefits of esmolol in adults with sepsis and septic shock: An updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Sepsis affects millions of patients annually, resulting in substantial health and economic burdens globally. The role of esmolol potentially plays in the treatment of sepsis and septic shock in adult patients remains controversial. ⋯ Esmolol treatment may be safe and effective in decreasing 28-day mortality, controlling heart rate, and providing cardioprotective function, but has no effect on lung injury in patients with sepsis or septic shock after early fluid resuscitation. Improvement in cardiac function may be related to changes in serum inflammatory mediators. No significant adverse effects on tissue perfusion and oxygen utilization were observed.
