It is generally believed that cerebral infarction shows hypoattenuation on computed tomography (CT) scans 12 to 24 hours after onset. Cerebral edema affects the occurrence of hypoattenuation, originating from the inner edge of the infarct and extending to the core. When reperfusion occurs in the infarct, the process of cerebral edema changes significantly, affecting the imaging of cerebral infarction on CT scans. This article focused on the mechanism of cerebral edema to provide a new perspective for understanding the impact of reperfusion on cerebral infarction. ⋯ Cerebral edema originating directly in the infarct core after reperfusion could lead to a significantly accelerated edema process and imaging evolution, causing more severe cerebral damage. In such a case, the patient should not receive antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy in order to prevent bleeding conversion.

To observe the interventional effect of antidepressants on advanced cancer patients from the perspective of patient benefit and analyze patient characteristics to explore reasonable drug use. Pharmaceutical care was administered to patients with advanced cancer. From June 2018 to June 2020, 152 advanced cancer patients underwent sertraline intervention. ⋯ We observed a positive effect of antidepressant drug intervention on refractory clinical symptoms in patients with advanced cancer that was particularly pronounced in those with a high-to-medium risk of depression and anxiety. However, the effect was not correlated with improved HADS score. Antidepression treatment improves concomitant clinical symptoms and benefits patients.

The aim of this study was to determine the resistance status and to identify the point mutations conferring resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones among dyspeptic patients in Manisa, Turkey. The study included a sample of 140 patients with an indication for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy randomly selected from 2100 dyspeptic patients attending to the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Unit at Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital between April 2016 and May 2018. A commercially available GenoType Helico DR test was used to detect the presence of Helicobacter pylori and mutations associated with resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in biopsy specimens. ⋯ The resistance rates and detected mutations in this study are in line with the country data. However, to achieve better H pylori eradication and to prevent the spread of multidrug-resistant strains in Turkey, the molecular-based susceptibility tests should be considered routinely. Further studies are needed to determine the various mutations among resistant strains.

Recent studies have highlighted that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) plays a significant role in tumorigenicity and progression. However, the mechanism of m6A modifications in the tumor microenvironment (TME) immune cell infiltration in cervical cancer (CC) remains unclear. Clinical and RNA sequencing data of 25 m6A RNA methylation regulators were acquired from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. ⋯ This study highlights the prognostic value of 25 m6A regulators in CC. The m6A modification is related to immune regulation and the formation of TME heterogeneity and complexity. An m6A scoring signature to clarify the individual m6A modification pattern could enhance our understanding of TME immune cell-infiltrating characterization and guide immunotherapy strategies.

AbstractEnhancer RNAs (eRNAs) can participate in enhancer regulation and target gene transcription, thus affecting the occurrence and development of tumors. In this study, we identified eRNAs closely related to bladder cancer (BLCA). Gene expression profiles and clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database were used in this study. ⋯ The ID2-AS1 high-expression group had better ICI treatment response. In addition, ID2-AS1 also had prognostic value in other cancers. ID2-AS1 helps predict prognostic and immunotherapeutic effects in BLCA.
