Neurofilament light chains (NfLs) are promising biomarkers of neuroaxonal damage in stroke patients. We investigated the correlations between NfL levels and infarct volume, initial stroke severity, and functional outcomes at discharge in patients with acute ischemic stroke. We prospectively included 15 patients with first-ever acute ischemic stroke and 8 age- and sex-matched healthy controls without other neurological disorders. ⋯ The difference between NfL1D and NfL7D (NfLdiff levels) was strongly correlated with the infarct volume (R = 0.63; P = .013). However, there was no statistically significant correlation between NfL levels and the initial stroke severity or functional outcomes at discharge. NfL levels in the subacute stage of stroke and the NfL difference between admission and 7th day of hospital were correlated with infarct volume in patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Case Reports
Esophageal cervical spondylosis complicated with cervical disc herniation: A rare case report.
Esophageal cervical spondylosis is rare in clinical practice, and the patients with cervical disc herniation are more rare. ⋯ Through the understanding of the disease, we can better understand the disease. It provides a treatment scheme for similar diseases.

Meta Analysis
The efficacy of mindfulness-based intervention for heart diseases: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
The efficacy of mindfulness-based intervention for heart diseases remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the impact of mindfulness-based intervention on heart diseases. ⋯ Mindfulness-based intervention can provide additional benefits to heart diseases.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Switching to tenofovir alafenamide versus continued therapy in chronic hepatitis B patients who were treated with entecavir: A prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled study.
Entecavir (ETV) and tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF) have been used widely to treat patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, but it is still unclear how best to use these drugs. Although some studies compared the efficacies of treatment switch from ETV to TAF, there has been no randomized study. ⋯ The efficacy and safety were comparable in the TAF-switching group and the ETV-continuing group. Because the present study was conducted in limited patients, a larger study will be required.

Meta Analysis
Dexamethasone for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dexamethasone in the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ⋯ Evidence from the meta-analysis suggests that dexamethasone is an effective and relatively safe treatment for all-cause mortality and ventilator-free status at 28 days in patients with ARDS. Owning to the small number of eligible RCTs, the conclusions of present study are warranted in the future study.
