Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) carries a higher risk of adverse events than standard endoscopy. Internet media platforms such as YouTube has emerged as a medical information source. Therefore, study aimed to identify whether YouTube videos provide appropriate information on ERCP to the general population. ⋯ Only 50% of videos informed viewers that patients would be irradiated and only six videos described at least one adverse event related to ERCP. ERCP videos on YouTube provide inadequate information regarding ERCP. Considering the unique characteristics of this procedure, professionals and academic societies need to be vigilant and proactive in producing and promoting high-quality videos.

Compliance and effect of thickener use in dysphagia patients with brain lesions: An observational pilot study.
The study aimed to investigate the status of thickener use in dysphagia patients with brain lesions and incidence of adverse events based on fluid viscosity. Twenty dysphagia patients with brain lesions who were recommended to use thickeners following a videofluoroscopic swallowing study were enrolled in this observational pilot study. Patients were educated to use thickener as level 2 or 3 based on the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative flow test. ⋯ Constipation (P = 0.338) and dehydration status (P = 0.202) were not significantly different between the 2 groups. In 2 evaluations for 20 patients, 40.0% of the cases did not follow the educated viscosity, and the number gradually increased in the follow-up evaluation. Considering that there were no significant differences in the incidence of adverse effects including pneumonia according to the fluid viscosity, a further study is necessary to establish detailed criteria for thickener use in dysphagia patients with brain lesions.

Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is one of the most well-studied and important factors that increase the risk of prefrailty in older people in Taiwan. This study was conducted to examine whether metabolic biomarkers, lifestyle behaviors, body composition, and chronic diseases are associated with frailty in older people with T2DM. We also observed how people manage their T2DM related to prefrailty. ⋯ Logistic regression analyses identified a significant correlation of prefrailty with the type of job from which they retired, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. An important and surprising finding of this study was that the unemployed group was at high risk for prefrailty, which was not observed in previous research. The groups engaged in manual and professional jobs had better hand grip strength, a slower walking speed, and less risk of prefrailty than the unemployed group.

The aim of the study was to develop an optimal radiomics model based on abdominal contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) for pre-operative differentiation of "early stage" adrenal metastases from lipid-poor adenomas (LPAs). This retrospective study included 188 patients who underwent abdominal CECT (training cohort: LPAs, 68; metastases, 64; validation cohort: LPAs, 29; metastases, 27). Abdominal CECT included plain, arterial, portal, and venous imaging. ⋯ The AUCs of the unenhanced (0.913), arterial (0.845), portal (0.803), and venous (0.905) radiomics models were all higher than those of the clinical-radiological model (0.788) in the testing dataset. The AUC of the combined radiomics model (incorporating plain and venous radiomics features) was further improved to 0.953, which was significantly higher than portal radiomics model (P = .033) and clinical-radiological model (P = .009), with the highest accuracy (89.13%) and a relatively stable sensitivity (91.67%) and specificity (86.36%). As the optimal model, the combined radiomics model based on biphasic CT images is effective enough to differentiate "early stage" adrenal metastases from LPAs by reducing the radiation dose.

Here, we report the frequency of capsulated ampicillin-resistant Haemophilus influenzae strains isolated from children in Tunisia, particularly capsular serotype b, by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to determine the molecular mechanisms underlying ampicillin resistance. ⋯ PCR should be used in our country because it may contribute to decreasing the probability of transmission of these strains, especially those showing the two mechanisms of resistance among children in Tunisia.
