To study the changes of plantar fascia in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Collect knee arthritis surgery patients and according to the length of the course is divided into long-course and short-course group, collection of healthy volunteers as control group at the same time, basic information such as age, height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) were recorded; the application of Philips and Siemens ultrasonic diagnostic instrument, a foot plantar fascia in patients with knee osteoarthritis in ultrasonic scanning, measuring the thickness of the heel of plantar fascia, observe its sonographic manifestation; age, BMI, and plantar fascia thickness were compared between groups. The plantar fascia thickness of the normal control group was 0.30 ± 0.06 cm on the left side and 0.30 ± 0.05 cm on the right side. ⋯ Plantar fascia was thickened in patients with knee osteoarthritis, and the thickening of plantar fascia was related to BMI. The thickening of plantar fascia was uneven, and the degree of thickening was related to the course of disease. At the same time, the sonogram of plantar fascia was less echogenic than that of normal controls.

This study aimed to identify, characterize, and map the important attributes of the top 100 most cited papers on BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. The scientific literature on BRCA1 and BRCA2 was searched in the Web of Science Core Collection database using the keywords "BRCA1" OR "BRCA2" (Title). The top 100 most cited papers were selected based on citations. ⋯ The collaboration index among the authors was 9.49. The most frequently appeared keywords were ovarian-cancer, breast-cancer, mutations, gene, and familial breast. In recent times, the trend topics were patients, mutations, carriers, ovarian, and risk.

As the leading cause of hospitalization and mortality worldwide, heart failure (HF) has caused significant burden on both individuals and the whole society. Thus, increasing knowledge about the phytopathology of HF is in demand for both diagnosis and treatment. Previous studies have shown that both microRNA 21 (miRNA-21) and inflammatory factors are closely related to the development of cardiac fibrosis, hypertrophy, and HF. ⋯ Levels of miR-21 negatively correlate with cardiac function while positively correlates with myocardial remodeling (P < .05). Levels of miR-21 negatively correlate with inflammation in CHF (P < .05). These findings indicate the potential crosstalk between serum miR-21 and inflammation during CHF progression, suggesting the potential of miR-21 in CHF diagnosis, severity indication, and treatment.

Ischemic stroke, one of the prevalent causes of death and disability worldwide, is linked to environmental and genetic factors, including polymorphisms in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene involved in homocysteine metabolism. The present study aimed to explore the relationship between the MTHFR C677T variant, plasma homocysteine, and risk of developing large-artery atherosclerotic ischemic stroke (LAAIS) among Han Chinese. A population-based case-control study, which included 1810 patients with LAAIS and 1765 unrelated control subjects, was conducted. ⋯ The TT homozygous genotype correlated with increased risk of developing LAAIS, as indicated by a significantly higher odds ratio (OR) compared to the CT and CC genotypes, in both additive (OR = 3.215, P = .01) and recessive models (OR = 3.265, P = .01). The plasma homocysteine level was genotype-dependent according to the following trend: TT > CT > CC. In conclusion, our data demonstrate that, in spite of its low prevalence in both patients and controls (1.5% vs 0.8%), the MTHFR C677T variant could, at least in part, affect homocysteine levels and this, either alone or in combination with other factors, increases the risk of LAAIS.

Myoclonic epilepsy in infancy (MEI) is a rare syndrome characterized by generalized myoclonic seizures (MS) that occur within the first 3 years of life. In the present study, the form of onset, and clinical and electroencephalogram (EEG) features were analyzed. A retrospective chart review was conducted for 16 MEI patients between March 2009 and July 2022 in Peking Union Medical College. ⋯ Furthermore, all patients had normal psychomotor development at the end of the follow up period. Typical MEI (MS at onset) and atypical MEI (GTCS at onset) were described in the present study. These 2 groups differed in form of onset, but there were no significant differences in clinical or EEG features.
