Meta Analysis
Prognostic factors associated with left ventricular non-compaction: A PRISMA-compliant meta-analysis.
Left ventricular non-compaction (LVNC) is a rare disease with a poor prognosis. Efforts to improve prognosis are limited by the quality and scope of the available evidence on prognostic factors. ⋯ 42020152706.

Nicotine is a toxic alkaloid known to be responsible for the addictive feature of cigarettes. CYP2A6 genetic polymorphism among individuals was suspected to explain the relationship between cigarette smoking and related diseases. CYP2A6 works to slow nicotine metabolism and thus maintain a more prolonged nicotine concentration and increase nicotine exposure to the blood. ⋯ Thus, this study suggests that the mutant CYP2A6 gene allele significantly increased the risk of having severe coronary stenosis 1.2 times higher compared to the wild type. This pilot study showed that CYP2A6 gene has an influential role in atherosclerotic development in male smokers. However, our findings should be confirmed with further more extensive studies.

Review Case Reports
Clinical analysis and literature review of a case of ovarian clear cell carcinoma with PIK3CA gene mutation: A case report.
Ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) is an uncommon malignant form of 5 subtypes of ovarian cancer, accounting for approximately 5% to 25% of all ovarian cancers. OCCC is usually diagnosed at a young age and an early stage. More than 50% of patients are associated with endometriosis. It shows less sensitivity to platinum-based chemotherapies, high recurrence, and poor prognosis, especially late. However, platinum-based chemotherapies remain the first-line treatment. Meanwhile, new treatment modalities have been explored, including immune checkpoint inhibitors and PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway inhibitors. ⋯ This study described an OCCC case that presented with a PIK3CA mutation and was successfully managed with careful and complete resection of the tumor. This patient with mutation of the PIK3CA gene was sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy, showed a significant downwards trend in tumor markers, and did not have recurrence after a year of follow-up, indicating a reasonably good prognosis. Therefore, surgery plus platinum drug chemotherapy is still the best strategy for OCCC treatment. In addition, it is recommended for such patients to undergo genetic testing as much as possible to predict the clinical treatment effect.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Fast-track surgery nursing intervention in CRC patients with laparotomy and laparoscopic surgery.
In this study, the application effect of fast-track surgery (FTS) nursing intervention in laparotomy and laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer (CRC) is investigated, and the optimal perioperative management strategy for CRC surgery is explored. One hundred thirty CRC patients are included in this study, in which 67 patients undergo laparotomy (Group A) and 63 patients undergo laparoscopic surgery (Group B). These patients were also randomly divided into traditional nursing subgroup (Group A1 [n = 33] and Group B1 [n = 31]) and FTS nursing subgroup (Group A2 [n = 34] and Group B2 [n = 32]). ⋯ Both FTS and laparoscopic surgery can advance the anal exhaust time, and shorten postoperative fasting and water deprivation time, and the hospitalization time without increasing the incidence of complications. FTS has advantages in reducing the indwelling time of gastric tube and throat pain. Simultaneous implementation of FTS and laparoscopic surgery has the best effect on the postoperative recovery of CRC patients.

Portal vein aneurysms (PVA) and intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunts are rarely diagnosed clinically. ⋯ Multimodal imaging techniques should be used to evaluate the source of blood flow, presence or absence of shunts, and the course, number, and location of the shunts to prevent misdiagnosis of this disease.
