Randomized Controlled Trial
Randomized, direct comparison study of Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 versus multi-strained Bacillus clausii probiotics for the treatment of pediatric acute gastroenteritis.
The choice of an appropriate probiotic for pediatric acute gastroenteritis (PAGE) can be confusing. Our aim was to compare the efficacy and safety of 2 probiotics (Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 vs a 4-strain mixture of Bacillus clausii O/C, SIN, N/R, T) for the treatment of PAGE. ⋯ In this study, S boulardii CNCM I-745 demonstrated better efficacy than B clausii mix for reducing the duration of pediatric acute diarrhea.

Efficacy and safety of Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture in the treatment of chronic urticaria: A meta-analysis.
Increasing studies have shown that Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture has a significant effect on chronic urticaria, which can treat both symptoms and root causes. This meta-analysis aims to compare the efficacy and safety differences between acupuncture combined with conventional Western medicine, so as to provide guidance for the clinical treatment of chronic urticaria. ⋯ Our research results found that traditional Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture has a more significant effect than conventional Western medicine and can significantly reduce the recurrence rate and the incidence of adverse reactions. The application of traditional Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture in the treatment of chronic urticaria should be further promoted.

The incidence of threatened abortion (TA) is increasing due to poor diet and living habits, which brings great pressure to pregnant women and their families. Huangqin-Baizhu herb pair recorded in ancient books of traditional Chinese medicine has been widely used in the treatment of TA with remarkable effect. In this study, we will use the network pharmacology method to predict the target and mechanism of Huangqin-Baizhu herb pair. ⋯ In this study, 42 active components, 152 potential targets and 11 key targets of Huangqin-Baizhu herb pair for the treatment of TA were revealed, participating in multiple signaling pathways such as PI3K-Akt, providing a theoretical basis for further experimental research.

There is still a conflict between early surgical decompression and increased bleeding resulting from early surgery for thoracolumbar burst fractures (TBF) with neurological symptoms. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of early continuously intravenous tranexamic acid (TXA) on perioperative blood loss in TBF with neurological symptoms who underwent early surgery. A retrospective comparative analysis was performed. ⋯ The remove drainage time, hospitalization time, blood transfusion rate and volume in the TXA group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < .001). There was no significant difference in the incidence of lower limb thrombosis between the 2 groups (P > .05). Early continuously intravenous TXA reduces the perioperative blood loss of patients with TBF who underwent early posterior fracture reduction, nerve decompression and pedicle screw fixation.

Anti-osteoporosis treatments changed body composition in postmenopausal women: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Whether the widespread anti-osteoporosis treatments in postmenopausal women also benefit the change of body composition (lean body mass [LBM] and body fat mass [FM]) remains controversial. In order to solve this issue and find out the most effective treatment, we conducted this meta-analysis. ⋯ anti-osteoporosis treatments, especially HRT, affect body composition. Furthermore, the combination of HRT and exercise training are the most effective treatment to reduce FM while maintaining LBM.
