To describe imaging findings of pulmonary contusions (PC) in adults and children using multidetector computed tomography (CT) scanners. We conducted a retrospective single center study. All chest multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scans of victims of blunt trauma admitted to the emergency unit of a reference trauma center of Brazil between January 2015 and December 2016 were reviewed in search of opacities compatible with PC. ⋯ PC usually are multiple and predominate in middle, posterior and peripheral portions of the lungs. Subpleural sparing and fissure crossing seems to be infrequent and have similar frequencies between children and adults. Although, there are differences between these age groups, as younger people tend to have more consolidation and diffuse opacities in the anteroposterior axis than older ones.

To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of our novel technique, ultrasound guided hysteroscopic catheter dilation (US-HCD), for the treatment of moderate to severe intrauterine adhesion (IUA). A total of 126 patients diagnosed with IUA and met the enrollment criteria were admitted in this historical cohort study from June 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018. All patients were divided into 2 groups according to the surgical techniques used. ⋯ No surgical complications were recorded and only 3 patients (5.2%) received a third-look hysteroscopy in Group B, while there were 6 cases of complications and 13 cases (19.1%) of third-look hysteroscopy in Group A, indicating significant differences between Groups (P < .05). Both groups exhibited comparable pregnancy rate, live birth rate and obstetric complications (P > .05). Our new technique is a safe, feasible and effective procedure for moderate to severe IUA patients, which can be mastered more quickly and easily by surgeons and applied in areas with less affluent economy and without hysteroscopic scissors, thus worthy of further study.

Retention rate of secukinumab in psoriatic arthritis: Real-world data results from a Spanish multicenter cohort.
Secukinumab is a novel anti-IL17 biologic treatment approved for the treatment of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). The purpose of the present study is to identify factors that can condition the retention rate of this drug in a real-world scenario. Methods: A multicentric retrospective study was conducted based on the registries of consecutive patients diagnosed with PsA who started secukinumab from January 2016 to December 2018. ⋯ The median retention rate of secukinumab was 636 days (95% confidence interval [CI] 542.4-729.5). Presence of peripheral arthritis (hazard ratio 0.424 [95% CI 0.213-0.847, P = .015]) and a time of evolution >6 years (hazard ratio 0.468 [95% CI 0.225-0.975, P = .043]) were the 2 variables that showed a significant influence on the drug retention rate. According to our results, patients who exhibit peripheral arthritis and those with a higher evolution time will have more probabilities of a larger secukinumab retention rate.

Psoas muscle index predicts time to rehospitalization in liver cirrhosis: An observational study.
Sarcopenia is frequent in liver cirrhosis (LC) where it is associated with morbidity and mortality. However, prognostic scores such as model for end-stage liver disease (MELD), MELD-sodium (MELD-Na), or Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) do not contain sarcopenia as a variable. For this study, we utilized psoas muscle index (PMI) to objectively determine sarcopenia in hospitalized LC patients, and evaluated it as a predictor of time between discharge and readmission in LC. ⋯ Additionally, there were significant differences in PMI between male and female individuals (5.16 vs 4.54 cm2/m2; P = .04) and in BMI between sarcopenic and nonsarcopenic individuals (29.63 vs 25.88 kg/m2; P = .009). Sarcopenia is an independent short-term prognostic factor in LC. By combining data on sarcopenia with CTP, we created an experimental score that predicts time to readmission better than MELD, MELD-Na, or CTP.

We aimed to evaluate whether Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) applied to hyperdense lesion on noncontrast CT obtained immediately post-thrombectomy (post-ASPECTS) is useful for predicting poor outcome. We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent noncontrast CT (NCCT) immediately after mechanical thrombectomy between January 2017 and July 2020 in our comprehensive stroke center. We collected baseline NCCT and post-ASPECTS score. ⋯ Low post-ASPECTS was associated with poor outcome (OR 0.390; 95% CI 0.258-0.589; P = .001), with an AUCROC curve of 0.753 (95% CI 0.684-0.822), while baseline NCCT-ASPECTS was not (OR 0. 754; 95% CI 0. 497-1.144; P = .185). A score ≤ 7 in post-ASPECTS was the best cut-off to poor clinical outcome (sensitivity 84.8%; specificity 52.7%; positive predictive value 68.4%; negative predictive value 73.8%). Our results point to the proportion of patients who present hyperdense lesion on NCCT is very high, post-ASPECTS could predict poor clinical outcomes in patients with stroke treated with endovascular mechanical thrombectomy, and post-ASPECTS may achieved better predictive value than baseline ASPECTS.
