In this study, we aimed to investigate whether fibrinogen degradation products(FDP)and D-dimer could be used as serological indicators of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) activity, such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and platelets (PLT). A total of 112 consecutive patients with RA between July 2018 and July 2020 were divided into moderate and high disease activity groups (disease activity score 28(DAS28) > 3.2, n = 60) and low disease activity and remission groups (DAS28≤3.2, n = 52). A total of 50 healthy volunteers were included in the control group, and FDP and D-dimer levels were compared across the three groups. ⋯ The ROC curves showed that the FDP and D-dimer levels could be used to evaluate the RA activity (all P < .001). The AUC of FDP was significantly larger than that of PLT (P = .047). FDP and D-dimer can be used as supplementary serological indicators to assess RA activity, in addition to ESR, CRP, and PLT.

Numerous studies have confirmed that helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) play a positive role in prehospital care. However, few studies have used rigorous bibliometric tools to analyze the knowledge structure and distribution of HEMS research. ⋯ CiteSpace was used to visualize and analyze the HEMS-related literature, which visually reflected the research status and hot spots, providing references for the topic selection and development direction of HEMS research.

To describe the incidence of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) after a diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome or trigger finger. We performed a retrospective study on national health registry comparing the incidence of BPH between a cohort of 9720 study patients and a comparison cohort of 38,880 control individuals. The crude hazard ratio (HR) and the adjusted HR were estimated by the univariable and the multivariable Cox proportional hazard model, respectively. ⋯ Patients only diagnosed with trigger finger raised the risk of BPH by 1.31 times (95% CI = 1.22, 1.40). The HR of BPH for patients with both carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger relative to the controls was 1.43 (95% CI = 1.33, 1.54). We concluded that the likelihood of developing BPH was increased in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome or trigger finger.

Isolated postchallenge hyperglycemia (IPH) is a type of diabetes mellitus defined as 2-h glucose ≥200 mg/dL but fasting glucose <126 mg/dL. The purpose of the study was to assess impacts of IPH on 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk scores in postmenopausal women. This study analyzed data from 428 postmenopausal women who underwent oral glucose tolerance test at a medical center. ⋯ The results of logistic regression analyses showed that IPH was independently positively associated with 10-year ASCVD risk scores ≥5% under both scenarios. Postmenopausal women with IPH were characterized by unfavorable cardiovascular risk profile and high predicted 10-year ASCVD risk. Knowing the women's hidden DM status would significantly alter their risk categorization.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a lethal and highly prevalent disease in women worldwide. The disease is often diagnosed in late stages, which leads to its rapid progression and low survival rate. This study aims to identify new prognostic genes for OC. ⋯ OC patients with high expression of ALDH1A2 and CLDN4 had lower TMB and low ALDH1A2 expression could produce a larger number of neoantigens. In conclusion, the 3 hub genes (ALDH1A2, CLDN4 and GPR37) identified through bioinformatics analyses in the present study may serve as OC prognosis biomarkers. The study findings offer valuable insights into OC progression and mechanisms.
