Adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) is commonly recommended for non-metastatic breast cancer survivors. However, the side-effects associated with AET can have a negative impact on survivors' functional status and quality of life. Understanding the factors influencing adherence to AET is crucial in improving its utilization among female breast cancer survivors. ⋯ This literature review critically evaluated 15 articles to explore the experiences of female breast cancer survivors in adhering to and persisting with AET. The findings highlight that while AET can cause drug side-effects, the involvement of healthcare professionals (HCP) plays a significant role in facilitating better use of AET. Unfortunately, many HCP fail to discuss vital information related to AET or provide guidance on managing side-effects and daily medication. Consequently, survivors often lack guidance in these areas. Despite experiencing discomfort, survivors maintain a positive attitude towards using AET and employ self-management strategies and social networks to overcome barriers. The impact of HCP on AET adherence among female breast cancer survivors is substantial. Future research should focus on understanding perspectives that promote HCP involvement, which will inform practical intervention strategies in clinical practice.

Application of intravitreal aflibercept to treat bilateral exudative retinal detachment secondary to retinitis pigmentosa: Case report and review of literature.
Exudative retinal detachment with macular edema is one of the complications of retinitis pigmentosa (RP). In this report, we present a case who treated with intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) in RP-related exudative retinal detachment and subsequently improved with favorable outcome. ⋯ This case illustrated the possibility of intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF therapy for the treatment of this rare complication of RP, and it may be a newly explored alternative treatment.

With the progress and rapid societal development, women are confronted with multifaceted pressures in their lives, encompassing familial and other domains. Furthermore, during the perimenopausal phase, endocrine equilibrium is disrupted, leading to the emergence of psychological and physiological health challenges. Insomnia is a prevalent symptom among perimenopausal individuals. ⋯ Consequently, this paper aims to investigate the interplay between the brain-gut-bacteria axis, intestinal microbiota, and the pathogenesis of perimenopausal insomnia. The study focuses on examining the regulatory effects of Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli decoction on the nervous system, intestinal microbiota, and the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis. Additionally, it explores the mechanisms underlying Hujia Longgu Muli decoction in mitigating perimenopausal insomnia.

The prevalence of periodontitis and dyslipidemia continues to increase, and several studies have reported an association between the 2. Therefore, we assessed the relationship between periodontitis and hypertriglyceridemia using propensity score matching to efficiently address confounding factors, as well as complex sample analysis with data from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey VII (2016-2018). ⋯ Both results of logistic regression analysis using complex sample design for whole and matched sample after propensity score matching demonstrated a significant association between hypertriglyceridemia and periodontitis, of which the adjusted odds ratio was 1.28 (95% confidence interval = 1.10-1.50) and 1.29 (95% confidence interval = 1.09-1.52), respectively. Our findings suggest that dental healthcare workers can help raise awareness among patients with periodontitis regarding the association between periodontitis and hypertriglyceridemia, which may help them manage the condition and receive treatment.

Comparison of the effects of stepwise intracranial decompression and decompressive craniectomy in the treatment of severe traumatic brain injury: A randomized controlled trial.
To compare the effects of stepwise intracranial decompression (SID) and decompressive craniectomy (DC) on severe traumatic brain injury. ⋯ Compared with DC, using SID to treat severe traumatic brain injury can shorten surgical time and reduce intraoperative bleeding, more effectively improve patients neurological function and consciousness state, reduce the incidence of complications, and regulate brain oxygen metabolism status, which is beneficial for improving prognosis and ensuring a good outcome of the disease.
