Recently, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-guided surgeries have been developed for bone and soft tissue tumors. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of CBCT-guided curettage for osteoid osteoma. Our study population included 13 patients who underwent primary curettage for osteoid osteoma using intraoperative CBCT in a hybrid operating room between April 2019 and November 2022. ⋯ All the patients reported 0 mm on the visual analogue scale for pain on the last follow-up. CBCT-guided curettage for osteoid osteoma was minimally invasive and reliable. This procedure can be effective for the treatment of lesions found in deep locations such as the pelvic bone and proximal femur or an invisible lesion that cannot be detected by regular fluoroscopy.

The objective of this study is to investigate the expression of protein tyrosine phosphatase type I (PTP4A1) in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in patients with early- and intermediate-stage esophageal cancer and its clinical value in evaluating patient prognosis. Tissue and peripheral blood samples were collected from patients with esophageal cancer, as well as their clinical data. Follow-up was performed on all patients. ⋯ The receiver operating characteristic curve showed that TNM stage and lymph node metastasis had a high predictive efficiency for PTP4A1+MCTCs, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.725. PTP4A1+mixed tumor cells had strong predictive value for the efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy, with a sensitivity of 94.7% and a specificity of 63.6%. Advanced TNM stage and lymph node metastasis are influencing factors for increased CTCs and poor expression of PTP4A1 in patients with esophageal cancer.

During the surge of the COVID-19 outbreak, medical personnel attended to countless patients, which adversely affected their mental well-being. To support their staff, hospitals implemented guidelines that focused on promoting mental health among medical professionals. The hypothesis that employee satisfaction declined during the COVID-19 pandemic needs confirmation. ⋯ Among the 4 domains, organizational leadership had the highest satisfaction; out of 104 demographic variables, 21 groups showed that employee satisfaction during the pandemic was significantly (P < .05) lower than before the pandemic; the selection of specific demographic variables is for top-tier supervisors, and they showed that employee satisfaction during the pandemic was significantly (P < .05) lower than before the pandemic across all 4 dimensions. Therefore, this study accepts the hypothesis that employee satisfaction was negatively affected during the COVID-19 period on 2 domains only: compensation and benefits, work atmosphere. The study visual examination, especially using Rasch Wright map, offers a comparative perspective on hospital staff satisfaction and serves as a methodological guide for subsequent satisfaction research.

Childhood trauma is an important predictor of psychotic disorders, with special emphasis on physical and sexual abuse. It influences the clinical picture and course of psychotic disorders. This study was conducted in the Department of Psychiatry of the University Clinical Hospital Mostar. ⋯ As 1 traumatic event in childhood makes a person more susceptible to more traumatic experiences during life. Childhood trauma is a serious and pervasive problem that has a significant impact on the development, course, and severity of the clinical presentation of psychotic disorders. Accordingly, it is necessary to provide continuous education to mental health workers, primarily psychiatrists, regarding childhood trauma so that treatment may be approached more systematically and a plan of therapeutic interventions may be more adequately designed, which would necessarily include psychosocial support in addition to pharmacotherapy.

This study aimed to explore the effect of P4HA1 (prolyl 4-hydroxylase subunit α1) and its ratio on the prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The expression data of P4HA1 in esophageal cancer in The Cancer Genome Atlas and Genotype-Tissue Expression were collected using the public database gene expression profiling interactive analysis. The expression levels of P4HA1 were examined by immunohistochemistry. ⋯ The prognostic factors affecting the PFS (progression-free survival) of esophageal cancer patients in the univariate survival analysis were as follows: degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis, and P4HA1 expression. In addition, multivariate analysis of the PFS results of patients showed that lymph node metastasis and P4HA1 expression were independent prognostic factors that affected the PFS of esophageal cancer patients. P4HA1 may be a novel potential biomarker for the early diagnosis, prognosis, and targeted therapy of esophageal cancer.
