Metformin is an old drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and can play a variety of roles by regulating the gut microbiota. The number of research articles on metformin in the gut microbiota has increased annually; however, no bibliometric tools have been used to analyze the research status and hot trends in this field. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of publications on metformin and gut microbiota. ⋯ This bibliometric study comprehensively summarizes the research trends and progress of metformin and gut microbiota, and provides new research topics and trends for studying the effects of metformin on gut microbiota in different diseases.

Previous studies have suggested a potential association between allergic rhinitis (AR) and hypertension, but the genetic basis remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to explore the genetic correlation and potential causal association between AR and hypertension. Using a large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS) public database, we conducted meticulous screening to acquire the most up-to-date GWAS data on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) relevant to AR and hypertension, with a significance threshold of P < 5 × 10-8. ⋯ Moreover, our reverse MR analysis yielded no indication of reverse causality from hypertension to AR, effectively discounting any influence from the latter on the former. Our study found evidence of a causal association between AR and hypertension in individuals of European ancestry. It demonstrated that AR reduced the risk of hypertension, suggesting a protective effect on hypertension due to the negative correlation with AR.

Exercise rehabilitation can improve the prognosis of patients with coronary heart disease. However, a bibliometric analysis of the global exercise rehabilitation for coronary heart disease (CHD) research topic is lacking. This study investigated the development trends and research hotspots in the field of coronary heart disease and exercise rehabilitation. ⋯ The research frontier trends in this field are body composition, participation, and function. Research on the effects of physical activity or exercise on patients with CHD is a focus of continuous exploration in this field. This study provides a new scientific perspective for exercise rehabilitation and CHD research and gives researchers valuable information for detecting the current research status, hotspots, and emerging trends for further research.

Kabuki syndrome (KS) is an autosomal dominant inherited syndrome that involves multiple organs and systems. Gene mutation is the main cause of KS. The reported mutations in X-linked histone H3 lysine 4 methylase (KMT2D) and KDM6A genes are 2 relatively clear pathogenic pathways. In this paper, we report a case of KS with neonatal hypoglycemia and special features caused by KMT2D gene mutation confirmed by whole exome sequencing, it enriched the clinical phenotype spectrum and gene mutation spectrum of KS, which helps to improve the understanding of the disease. ⋯ KS has strong clinical characteristics and biological heterogeneity. Genetic diagnosis can help identify mutant gene types. However, the relationship between genotype and phenotype has not been fully clarified. The molecular etiological mechanism still needs to be further explored and elucidated.

Evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid levels for ALOX5, S100B, DEFA1, and GFAP in infectious meningitis.
The aim of this study was to determine how the levels of peptide and protein-based biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid change in bacterial, tuberculous, and aseptic meningitis, and to determine the success of these agents in distinguishing between different types of infectious meningitis. ⋯ This study showed that cerebrospinal fluid arachidonate-5-lipoxygenase, and S100 calcium-binding protein B levels may differ in bacterial, aseptic, and tuberculous meningitis, and the results obtained may be quite effective as important potential biomarkers in the differential diagnosis of different types of meningitis.
