Exploration of the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome based on gut microbiota: A review.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex disorde7r influenced by genetic, neuroendocrine, metabolic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. This paper delves into the increasingly recognized role of gut microbiota dysbiosis in the onset and progression of PCOS. Utilizing advances in next-generation sequencing and metabolomics, the research examines the intricate interaction between the gut microbiota and the central nervous system via the gut-brain axis. ⋯ Through such mechanisms, gut microbiota dysbiosis is implicated in hyperandrogenism, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and metabolic disorders associated with PCOS. While the relationship between gut microbiota and PCOS has begun to be elucidated, this paper underscores the need for further research to identify specific bacterial strains and their metabolic byproducts as potential therapeutic targets. Therefore, comprehensive studies are urgently needed to understand and fundamentally treat the pathophysiological processes of PCOS, offering valuable insights for future treatment and prevention strategies.

As one of the types of programmed cell death, pyroptosis has become a focus of research in recent years. Numerous studies have shown that pyroptosis plays a regulatory role in tumor cell invasiveness, differentiation, proliferation, and metastasis. It has been demonstrated that pyroptosis is involved in the regulation of signaling pathways implicated in the pathogenesis of prostate cancer (PCa). ⋯ Therefore, the potential role of pyroptosis in regulating the development of PCa warrants further investigation and attention. In this review, we summarize the basics of the role of pyroptosis and also discuss research into the mechanisms of action associated with pyroptosis in PCa. It is hoped that by exploring the potential of the pyroptosis pathway in intervening in PCa, it will provide a viable direction for the diversification of PCa treatment.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is characterized by high rates of disability and death. Valeriana jatamansi Jones (VJJ), a Chinese herbal medicine, has been identified to improve motor function recovery in rats with SCI. The study aimed to analyze the potential molecular mechanisms of action of VJJ in the treatment of SCI. ⋯ There were 1493 GO items (P < .01) and 173 signaling pathways (P < .01) obtained from GO and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment, including the phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K)-protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway, hypoxia-inducible factor 1 signaling pathway, and tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway. Molecular docking revealed that 12 hub genes enriched in the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway had a high binding affinity for the active ingredient of VJJ. VJJ may exert its therapeutic effects on SCI through the iridoid fraction, acting on signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, CASP3, AKT1, tumor necrosis factor, mammalian target of rapamycin, interleukin 6, and other hub genes, which may be related to the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

The impact of palliative care on the physical and mental status and quality of life of patients with chronic heart failure: A randomized controlled trial.
Chronic heart failure (CHF) is the terminal stage of several diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of palliative care on the physical and mental status and quality of life of patients with CHF. ⋯ Adopting palliative care to intervene in CHF patients can effectively regulate their physical and mental state, alleviate negative emotions, transform coping styles towards the disease, and improve their quality of life, with high patient satisfaction.

Breast cancer represents a prevalent malignancy that primarily impacts women, with pronounced consequences on their overarching health. The major therapeutic approach, encompassing surgical procedures, can often culminate in mastectomy, potentially inciting psychological turmoil and disorders. ⋯ The axillary approach for endoscopic mammary gland excision and immediate implant reconstruction permits patients to preserve the esthetics of the female form while undergoing conventional medical treatment. This methodology considerably enhances the psychophysical health of the patients, thereby marking it as an advantageous practice worthy of broad dissemination in the medical community.
