Neuroendocrine tumors usually arise from the gastrointestinal and pulmonary tracts and rarely from the skin. We report a unique case of high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma with positive steroid hormone receptors in the primary skin of the groin. ⋯ The morphology of this tumor is unique and previously unreported, further expanding the possible pathogenesis and histological morphologies of this tumor type.

Coagulation factor V deficiency is rare, and perioperative management of patients with this condition is particularly important, especially during major abdominal surgery. We present a case of a patient with pancreatic duct stones combined with coagulation factor V deficiency. We share our perioperative management experience. ⋯ Patients with a deficiency of coagulation factor V are not contraindicated for surgery. Appropriate Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) replacement therapy can ensure the safe conduct of the surgical procedure. For patients with abnormal blood coagulation function, we recommend testing for coagulation factors and inhibitors, as well as performing genetic testing for abnormal coagulation factors, which can provide guidance on marriage and childbirth.

Evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid levels for ALOX5, S100B, DEFA1, and GFAP in infectious meningitis.
The aim of this study was to determine how the levels of peptide and protein-based biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid change in bacterial, tuberculous, and aseptic meningitis, and to determine the success of these agents in distinguishing between different types of infectious meningitis. ⋯ This study showed that cerebrospinal fluid arachidonate-5-lipoxygenase, and S100 calcium-binding protein B levels may differ in bacterial, aseptic, and tuberculous meningitis, and the results obtained may be quite effective as important potential biomarkers in the differential diagnosis of different types of meningitis.

Metformin is an old drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and can play a variety of roles by regulating the gut microbiota. The number of research articles on metformin in the gut microbiota has increased annually; however, no bibliometric tools have been used to analyze the research status and hot trends in this field. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of publications on metformin and gut microbiota. ⋯ This bibliometric study comprehensively summarizes the research trends and progress of metformin and gut microbiota, and provides new research topics and trends for studying the effects of metformin on gut microbiota in different diseases.

It is necessary and important for quality of care to ensure the comfort of patients during the procedure, as well as before and after surgery. According to literature, it is necessary to know what patients experience and how they perceive the care they receive. This study aimed to investigate the quality of care perceived by patients during cystoscopy and the factors affecting it. ⋯ It was higher in single patients and those who had not previously undergone surgery. It was found that the mean of the environment sub-dimension was the highest at 18.57 ± 2.51 and the mean of the support sub-dimension was the lowest at 16.01 ± 3.44. The results of this study showed that patients undergoing cystoscopy have a good perception of the quality of their peri-operative nursing care.
