Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] has been confirmed as a causal risk factor of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, but its role on circulation is not completely clear and is still being explored. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the relationship between Lp(a) and whole blood reducing viscosity (WBRV), to better understand the role of Lp(a) in circulatory and cardiovascular diseases. We retrospectively analyzed the data of consecutive subjects in the physical examination center of the Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University Medical College from January 2022 to May 2022. ⋯ The low-density lipoprotein concentration was associated with whole blood viscosity at low-shear (R = 0.220, P = .012), middle-shear (R = 0.226, P = .01), and high-shear viscosity (R = 0.212, P = .015), as well as plasma viscosity (RS = 0.207, P = .018). Lp(a) was not associated with whole blood viscosity at low, middle, and high shear rates, but was associated with WBRV at low shear (RS = 0.204, P = .019) and middle shear rates (RS = 0.197, P = .024). Lp(a) is associated with high WBRV, which may impart more insights into the role of Lp(a) in cardiovascular disease.

Obesity is a known risk factor for gastric cancer. However, the relationship between serum lipids and gastric cancer risk has not been fully established. We investigated the relationship between serum cholesterol levels and gastric cancer risk using a nationwide population cohort. ⋯ Overall, higher HDL-C levels may play a protective role in gastric cancer pathogenesis. The association between LDL-C/TC and gastric cancer seems to vary according to sex, age, and statin use. Especially in young males under age 55, high LDL-C and TC levels were associated with higher risk of gastric cancer.

Linezolid itself is rarely reported to cause blood pressure elevation, and it is rare to report that linezolid causes hypertensive urgency. ⋯ Linezolid is rarely reported to cause elevated blood pressure, even though it may occur in the absence of obvious drug interactions. Case reported fewer reasons may be for clinicians statistically insignificant or notice, and hypertensive urgency often lead to clinical risk, should be given enough attention to clinical. Pay attention to blood pressure monitoring during use, when there is abnormal increase in blood pressure, should consider adverse drug reactions, give timely discontinuation and give symptomatic treatment.

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common cause of pain in the lumbar spine and legs. While acupuncture has become the primary conservative treatment for LDH, some patients experience treatment failure and require surgery, causing substantial concern for clinicians. We developed an effective personalized clinical prediction model to identify the independent risk factors associated with acupuncture failure in patients with LDH. ⋯ Therefore, the prediction model had a good net benefit. The nomogram established in this study, incorporating 7 risk factors, demonstrated a good predictive ability. It could predict acupuncture failure in LDH patients and the risk of surgery within 6 months, enabling physicians to conduct individualized treatment measures.

Emotional eating (EE) has been found to be associated with depression, anxiety, excessive weight, obesity, and unhealthy eating habits. EE could also be associated with recurrent weight gain. To date, the factors predicting success following bariatric surgery remain uncertain. ⋯ The effect of emotional eating and depression on TWL was not detected. Emotional eating and depression trigger each other in the individuals who underwent bariatric surgery. Young individuals who undergo bariatric surgery are more vulnerable to emotional eating and depression than older patients.
