Bladder cancer and osteosarcoma are 2 types of cancers that originate from epithelial tissues inside the bladder and bone or muscle tissues. Ultrasound-guided biopsies provide crucial support for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer and osteosarcoma. However, the relationship between myosin light chain kinase (MYLK) and caldesmon (CALD1) and bladder cancer and osteosarcoma remains unclear. ⋯ The results of Western blotting showed that the expression levels of MYLK and CALD1 in bladder cancer and osteosarcoma were lower than those in normal tissues. MYLK and CALD1 likely play a role in regulating muscle contraction and smooth muscle function in bladder cancer and osteosarcoma. The lower expression of MYLK and CALD1 is associated with poorer prognosis.

What is known about osteoporosis research in Latin America?: A bibliometric analysis of three decades.
Identifying the gaps in scientific production in a topic allows directing research in order to make better public investment decisions. Bibliometric data on osteoporosis in Latin America are very limited and unclear and, given the impact of this disease in this region, it is relevant to analyze the latest trends in the subject. The study approach was quantitative, observational-descriptive, cross-sectional. ⋯ Latin American scientific production in osteoporosis has shown a significant increase. However, in the last 3 years it has shown a slight reduction. Greater intraregional collaboration involving universities, institutions and health societies is needed.

Telerehabilitation offers a novel approach supplementing or replacing traditional physical rehabilitation. While research on telerehabilitation for joint replacement (TJR) has expanded, no study has investigated the top 100 cited articles (T100TJR) using the descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics (DDPP) model. This study aims to examine the features of T100TJR in TJR through the DDPP approaches. ⋯ Telerehabilitation for TJR has seen rising interest, with the U.S. leading contributions. The study highlighted dominant themes, especially "replacement," in top-cited articles. The significant correlation between article citations and keyword importance indicates the criticality of keyword selection. The research underscores the importance of 2 pivotal articles, recommending them for deeper insights.

The aim was to construct and verify a nomogram-based assessment of cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with colorectal signet ring cell carcinoma after surgery. Patients were collected from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program between 2004 and 2015. Independent prognostic indicators were determined in the training cohort by Cox regression model. ⋯ The time-independent area under the curves for 3-year and 5-year CSS in the nomogram were larger than American Joint Committee on Cancer and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results summary stage system. Moreover, decision curve analysis indicated the clinical utility of the nomogram. The nomogram demonstrated favorable predictive accuracy of survival in colorectal signet ring cell carcinoma patients after surgery, which should be further confirmed before clinical implementation.

Patients with hypopituitarism often have no specific symptoms; that frequently results in missed diagnosis. An acute hypopituitarism crisis can be induced under stressful conditions. Here, we report a rare case of an acute pituitary crisis after lumbar surgery. ⋯ Refractory postoperative complications, including electrolyte disorders, infection, nausea, vomiting, circulatory collapse, anemia, and coma, indicate an acute postoperative hypopituitary crisis.
