Antimicrobial properties of plants have been investigated by a number of studies worldwide and many of them have been used as therapeutic alternatives because of their antimicrobial properties. The quest for suitable and affordable alternative in the face of increasing antimicrobial drug resistant has led researchers into exploring the use of plant extract in the treatment of infections. The antibacterial properties of turmeric (Curcuma longa) on selected bacteria were evaluated. ⋯ There was no inhibitory effect against P aeruginosa. There was significant difference between the ethanol and aqueous extracts (P < .05). This study reveal that Turmeric plant has antibacterial potential against selected organisms and may be of great use of pharmaceutical industries for the development of medicine to cure ailments and control abnormal serum lipid profile.

Treatment failure in patients with liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is primarily caused by tumor progression and therapy resistance. Tumor immunity plays a crucial role in regulating the homeostasis of cells through the process of programmed cell death (PCD). However, the expression profile and clinical significance of PCD-related genes in LIHC require further investigation. ⋯ Additionally, PCDscore was correlated with immune checkpoint genes and immune cell infiltration. LIHC patients with high PCDscore exhibited sensitivity to common chemotherapy drugs (such as cisplatin and docetaxel). To summarize, our study developed a novel PCDscore model that comprehensively analyzed different cell death modes, providing an accurate prediction of clinical prognosis and drug sensitivity for LIHC patients.

The dedifferentiation process of tumorigenesis and somatic cell reprogramming has some commonness and differences, which is the key question to cancer therapeutic strategy and stem cell applications. To further explore the commonalities and variance between carcinogenesis and induced pluripotent stem cell reprogramming, we investigated the role of stemness factors OSKM (OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, and MYC) in the pan-cancer process using public clinical data. Expression of OSKM in human pan-cancer was analyzed via the Genotype Tissue Expression (GTEx) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database based on the RNA-seq data of tissues. ⋯ In addition, correlation analysis revealed the relevance of OSKM genes to patient prognosis, cancer cell stemness, tumor microenvironment or immune checkpoint. However, there is little similarity between these genes in terms of how they function in each cancer type. This study elucidates the different roles of core stemness factors OSKM in pan-cancer, offering potential therapeutic targets for novel anti-cancer strategies and knowledge to minimize the potential carcinogenic effects during stem cell transplantation.

The number of studies investigating the role of physical activity and exercise in hypertension (HT) patients is insufficient in the literature, and reports evaluating the relationship between HT, physical activity, and balance are lacking. This study aims to examine the relationship between physical activity levels and balance parameters, muscle strength, and fear of falling in patients with HT. 78 subjects with HT participated in this study. Demographic and clinical characteristics of all participants were recorded. ⋯ There is a positive correlation between decreased physical activity levels and balance in participants with HT. The results suggest that people with HT who have poor balance also have decreased muscle strength against gravity, such as in the quadriceps femoris and gluteus maximus. Overall, we recommend that patients with HT should improve their physical activity levels.

To explore the application effect of plan, do, check, action (PDCA) cycle on nursing quality management and risk control in digestive endoscope room. Ninety patients who received digestive endoscopy care before undergoing PDCA circulation mode risk control from January 2022 to April 2022 were selected as the Common group. From May 2022 to December 2022, 156 patients who underwent digestive endoscopy care after undergoing PDCA cycle mode risk control were selected as the PDCA group. ⋯ The qualified rate of endoscopic cavity disinfection and endoscopic external disinfection in the PDCA group were significantly higher than those in the Common group. Compared with before management, the scores of post management, nursing safety, disinfection and isolation, instruments, theoretical tests, and operational tests of nursing personnel after management increased significantly. The PDCA cycle is well applied in nursing quality management and risk control in the digestive endoscope room.
