Glioma is the most malignant tumor in the central nervous system with a poor prognosis. The tumor immune microenvironment plays a crucial role in glioma formation and progress. TREM1, as a vital immune regulator, has not been investigated in glioma. ⋯ TREM1 participated in the initiation and progression of glioma by regulating immune cell infiltration and expression of immune checkpoints. TREM1 is an effective prognostic and diagnostic biomarker in glioma. It can be adopted as a novel predictor for clinical prognosis, pathological characteristics, and immune microenvironment in glioma patients.

At present, nucleic acid testing is the gold standard for diagnosing influenza A, however, this method is expensive, time-consuming, and unsuitable for promotion and use in grassroots hospitals. This study aimed to establish a diagnostic model that could accurately, quickly, and simply distinguish between influenza A and influenza like diseases. ⋯ A computer algorithm diagnosis model of influenza A in children based on blood routine test data was established, which could identify children with influenza A more accurately in the early stage, and was easy to popularize.

Rational design peptide inhibitors of Cyclophilin D as a potential treatment for acute pancreatitis.
Cyclophilin D (CypD) is a mitochondrial matrix peptidyl prolidase that regulates the mitochondrial permeability transition pore. Inhibition of CypD was suggested as a therapeutic strategy for acute pancreatitis. Peptide inhibitors emerged as novel binding ligand for blocking receptor activity. ⋯ We showed 4 out of the selected 5 peptides were capable for blocking the activity of CypD, while WACLQ display the strongest affinity against CypD, which reached 0.28 mM. The binding mechanism between WACLQ and CypD was characterized using molecular dynamics simulation. Here, we proved our approach can be a robust method for screening peptide inhibitors.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the potential of lymphocytes as biomarkers to predict the decline of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Lymphocytes were counted in 164 moderate COVID-19 patients in Shenzhen, China. Among the moderate infected patients, 12.2% (20/164) progressed to severe cases after admission. ⋯ The aggravation of moderate infected patients was significantly associated with lymphocyte count (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.91; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.84-0.99), total T lymphocyte count (HR = 0.91; 95% CI: 0.84-0.99), and CD4+ T lymphocyte count (HR = 0.91; 95% CI: 0.85-0.98). Total T lymphocytes and CD4+ T lymphocytes could be important biomarkers to evaluate the risk of aggravation for moderate infected COVID-19 patients. The patients with low percentages of total T lymphocytes and CD4+ T lymphocytes need more attention.

By conducting an in-depth investigation and analysis of the health human resource framework within the Urumqi Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this study aims to offer valuable insights for the objective assessment and future enhancement of its talent development endeavors. A questionnaire survey was administered, followed by a descriptive analysis, involving the healthcare professionals affiliated with the Urumqi Center for CDC. The Urumqi Center for CDC exhibited a lower compilation number than its on-duty personnel count. ⋯ The human resource count in both Urumqi's city and county (district) level CDCs has decreased, but the relative numbers have improved, indicating enhanced quality and a younger workforce. The municipal-level CDC boasts a superior human resource structure compared to the county (district) level, with better fairness in population distribution by area than geography. Allocation equity within the central urban area is higher than in distant urban areas, highlighting regional disparities as a significant factor.
