Ankle fractures involving the posterior malleolus are a relatively common injuries, but various surgical approaches are still being introduced, and the selection of an appropriate surgical method is still controversial. The aim of this study was to introduce the surgical method using a single lateral approach for open reduction and internal fixation for posterior malleolar (PM) fractures associated with Weber B type ankle fractures. In this retrospective study, the single lateral approach was used for osteosynthesis of the PM fracture with Weber B lateral malleolar fractures. ⋯ During the follow-up period, arthritic change was observed in 1 case and limited range of motion was confirmed in 2 cases. There was 1 case of postoperative wound problem and no case of sural nerve injury. The single lateral approach is a relatively simple and convenient method that enables accurate reduction and minimizing complication for fixation of the PM fractures with Weber B lateral malleolar fractures.

To investigate the clinical effectiveness and feasibility of novel intervertebral space release without Smith-Petersen osteotomy/pedicle subtraction osteotomy/Ponte osteotomy in the treatment of adults with moderate to severe degenerative scoliosis. The data of 49 patients with moderate to severe degenerative scoliosis treated with a novel intervertebral space release and balance correction technique from January 2010 to January 2016 and followed up until January 2021 were collected based upon pre-designated inclusive and exclusive criteria for retrospective analyses. The Japanese Orthopaedic Association score and coronal Cobb angle were employed for the assessment of clinical symptoms and scoliosis correction improvements. ⋯ The Japanese Orthopaedic Association score was significantly increased from 9.45 ± 3.33 preoperatively to 19.65 ± 4.58 postoperatively (P < .001), and the coronal Cobb angle was significantly improved from 39.95º ± 9.04º preoperatively to 8.28º ± 4.21º (P < .001) after 1 year. There were no major complications occurred in patients. The novel intervertebral space release and balance correction at the original lesion and maximal unbalance site without vertebral osteotomy showed a promising clinical profile and may be considered as an alternative for the treatment of moderate to severe degenerative scoliosis.

Aberrant pancreas adenocarcinoma in the stomach: A case report and literature review.
Aberrant pancreatic tissue in the gastrointestinal tract is a relatively common finding. However, malignant transformation is extremely rare. Herein, we report a case of ectopic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in the stomach wall. ⋯ Aberrant pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in the stomach is a rare finding, however this pathology should be included in the differential diagnosis of gastric submucosal lesion causing pyloric stenosis.

Chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) is a systemic immune-mediated complication that occurs in approximately half of patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HCT), and remains the leading cause of late morbidity and mortality. cGVHD involves a heterogeneous group of organic manifestations, many of which mimic autoimmune diseases such as scleroderma, primary biliary cholangitis, Sjögren syndrome and polymyositis. ⋯ cGVHD is a multiorgan pathological condition, and this case emphasizes that a multidisciplinary team, including rheumatologists, should be involved in the follow-up of allo-transplant patients to ensure that the clinical complications are adequately addressed. Early intervention is critical for improving patient' prognosis.In addition, we performed a systemic literature review based on published case articles on hepatic cGVHD and digital ischemia published up to August 2022. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of such an association.

To determine the effectiveness of conjunctivoplasty using a modified argon laser photocoagulation method on patients with conjunctivochalasis (CCh). This study included 25 cases of symptomatic inferior CCh. After staining the surface of a redundant conjunctiva using a dark-purple marker, low-energy argon laser photocoagulation (500 μm spot size for 0.5 seconds at power 300 mW) was applied under topical anesthesia for a mean of 80 times. ⋯ No postoperative complications such as conjunctival scarring or persistent ocular irritation were observed. Our modified argon laser photocoagulation method employs staining the conjunctival surface to increase the thermal laser energy absorbed by the target. This novel technique is simple and effective for treating mild-to-moderate-grade CCh in outpatient clinics.
