3M microfoam™ surgical tape prevents nasal pressure injury associated with nasotracheal intubation: A randomized double-blind trial.
3M microfoam™ surgical tape (3ST: 3M Japan Limited) is used for pressure wound control of medical equipment. It is cushioned and can be fitted to any body part. Here we investigated whether 3ST prevents nasal pressure injury associated with nasotracheal intubation (NTI). ⋯ 3ST prevents nasal pressure injury associated with NTI.

Research trends of platelet-rich plasma therapy on knee osteoarthritis from 2011 to 2021: A review.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been widely used to alleviate osteoarthritis of the knee, and research results are abundant. However, there are no bibliometric reports in publications in this field. Therefore, the current status of PRP for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee from 2011 to 2021 was analyzed using Citespace 6.1.R2 software. ⋯ This bibliometric study provides a decade of current clinical research on PRP for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, which can help researchers understand the hot spots in the field and provide a new direction for their research.

Diagnosis and management of extramedullary plasmacytoma in nasal cavity: Clinical experience and literature review.
Nasal extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) is a rare plasma cell tumor that occurs in the soft tissue of the nasal cavity, and its imaging characteristics are still unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical features, imaging findings, treatment, survival analysis, and prognosis of nasal EMP, and to provide a systematic review of the patients we treated and the published literature. A 45-year-old female patient who presented with epistaxis with nasal obstruction was recommended for magnetic resonance imaging to assess the nature of the lesion. ⋯ The absence of dilated features, infiltrative features and the presence of significant contrast enhancement may be relatively specific imaging findings of nasal EMP. The prognosis of nasal EMP is good, and recurrence, metastasis, and transformation into multiple myeloma are rare. Because the lesions are sensitive to radiotherapy, surgical resection combined with radiotherapy is a more effective treatment.

Isolated splenic metastases from rectal carcinoma 5 years after surgery: Case report.
Splenic malignancies are mostly lymphocytic tumors and splenic metastases are rarer.[1] According to reports, the most common source of splenic metastases include melanoma, tumors of the breast, lung, ovary, colon, stomach, and pancreas.[2,3]. ⋯ The splenic metastasis from rectal carcinoma 5 years after surgery is rare. If it is a solitary splenic metastasis, splenectomy can effectively improve the prognosis of patients. We review the literature and report this case.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. Globally, it is also the third leading vascular disease, after myocardial infarction and stroke. The incidence of VTE is reportedly higher in Western countries than in Asian countries. ⋯ We have assessed the evidence-based utilities of available RAMs and have delineated the most common and suitable RAMs for different populations including coronavirus disease 2019 affected patients. This review depicts the current status of implementation and validation of RAMs in the Indian scenario. It also highlights the need for additional validation studies, improved awareness, and implementation of RAMs in clinical practice for lowering the burden of VTE.
