The large gap between the demand for, and the supply of organs worldwide makes promoting organ donation an important global social issue. Even after someone has signed a consent form or registered for organ donation, ethically, the hospital still requires a family member's written permission before organ donation can proceed. As a result, a family member rather than the patient makes the final decision. ⋯ Attitude toward organ donation and behavioral knowledge of organ donation correlated significantly with a willingness to sign a consent form. This study found that family support and organ donation attitudes were important factors in predicting the willingness to sign a consent form for the organ donation of hypothetical patients. The study provides evidence that nurses and healthcare staff need to consider family support and educate families on organ donation to encourage potential donors to accept and agree to organ donation.

There are more and more clinical studies on the efficacy of warm acupuncture in treating sciatica, but the systematic review of the efficacy of warm acupuncture is still lacking. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of warm acupuncture combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of sciatica. ⋯ The review will add to the existing literature by showing compelling evidence and improved guidance in clinic settings.

The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical features and risk factors of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) and its effect on pregnancy outcomes. The data from 300 pregnant women with ICP and 300 pregnant women without ICP admitted from July 2015 to December 2016 at Changsha Maternal and Child Health Hospital were collected. The factors associated with ICP were examined. ⋯ The incidence of abnormal amniotic fluid and premature births in the ICP group were significantly higher than in the control group (all P < .05). ICP is associated with BMI at delivery, number of births, HDP, gestational diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hepatitis virus infection. ICP greatly influences pregnancy outcomes.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a life-threatening complication of acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) patients. Increasing evidence suggests that histamine ameliorates the pathology of renal injury. However, data on the association between histamine levels and postoperative AKI in ATAAD patients are limited. ⋯ Subgroup analysis revealed that low preoperative plasma histamine level was independently associated with postoperative ATAAD-AKI (stage 3) (OR, 1.38; 95% CI, 1.10-1.73; P = .005) and CRRT (OR, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.13-1.79; P = .008). Low preoperative plasma histamine level was an independent prognostic indicator of postoperative AKI in patients with ATAAD, especially for postoperative AKI (stage 3) and CRRT. Preoperative plasma histamine levels may serve as potential protective biomarkers of postoperative ATAAD-AKI.

Clotrimazole has long been used to treat vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), yet the antibiotic resistance, adverse effects and recurrences still bring about a great challenge for the clinicians. To explore the effect of probiotic Lacidophilin Vaginal Capsules plus Clotrimazole Vaginal Tablets (500mg) in the treatment of uncomplicated VVC, a self-controlled real-world study was conducted. ⋯ Clotrimazole Vaginal Tablets plus probiotic Lacidophilin Vaginal Capsules could improve the effect in treating uncomplicated VVC. This improved effect was achieved perhaps through improving the composition of vaginal flora and restoring vaginal microecology.
