The effect of spinal anatomical anomalies on the efficacy of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) for disc herniation repair is unclear. This retrospective review aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of PELD for treating L5-S1 disc herniation with a range of characteristics and to determine the prevalence of lumbosacral transitional vertebrae (LSTV) anatomical anomalies to facilitate pre-surgical planning. From July 2005 to June 2019, 345 patients with L5-S1 disc herniations were treated with PELD. ⋯ Two durotomy cases without sequelae and 8 cases of lower limb dysesthesia lasting longer than 3 months postoperatively were reported. PELD is safe and effective for treating L5-S1 disc herniation, including cases complicated by calcified lumbar disc herniation, disc rupture with migration, and the presence of LSTV. Appropriate imaging is essential to identify case-specific factors, including the prevalent LSTV anatomical anomalies, before surgery.

Clinical effect and safety of thread embedding acupuncture on facial nerve palsy sequelae: A retrospective observational study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical effect and safety of thread embedding acupuncture (TEA) in patients with facial nerve palsy sequelae. This was a retrospective observational study on 82 patients treated with TEA from January 2021 to May 2022. The Facial Disability Index (FDI) reported by patients and Sunnybrook Facial Grading System scores assessed by clinical practitioners were used to evaluate the intensity of facial movements, functional problems, and psychosocial status. ⋯ Additionally, the physical scores improved significantly among the subscales of FDI, but the social/well-being scores did not. There were no reported serious adverse events or adverse events requiring medical Tx. TEA is a safe Tx that has a clinically cumulative effect, in terms of patient-oriented self-assessment of functional problems and objective facial movements, for treating facial nerve palsy sequelae.

A bibliometric analysis of the global trends and hotspots for the ketogenic diet based on CiteSpace.
The ketogenic diet (KD) is a potential nutritional therapy that is frequently utilized in various conditions. More and more studies are being done on KD in recent years. However, as far as we know, few studies have made an effort to offer a thorough synthesis and assessment of this topic. ⋯ The United States is the country with the most publications, and Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins University Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions are the institutions with the most articles. The high frequency keywords are "KD," "ketone body," "children," "efficacy," "weight loss," "low carbohydrate diet," "metabolism," "epilepsy," "beta hydroxybutyrate," and "modified atkins diet." The 2018 study by Kossoff EH on epilepsia and the 2017 study by Puchalska P on ketone body metabolism earned 127 and 114 citations, respectively. The results of this bibliometric analysis provide information on the state and trends in KD and may be used by researchers to pinpoint hot issues and discover new areas of study.

To study the mechanism of 25 ingredient decoction for setting a fracture (TDSF) in fracture treatment using network pharmacology. The TCMSP, BATMAN-TCM, HERB, and Uniprot protein databases were used to identify the active ingredients and targets of TDSF. Fracture-related targets were collected from the gene cards and the online mendelian inheritance in man databases. ⋯ Key targets included serine/threonine protein kinase 1, tumor necrosis factor, interleukin 6, tumor protein 53, and vascular endothelial growth factor. Important roles of the following pathway were identified: cancer, lipid, and atherosclerosis; AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications; chemical carcinogenesis - receptor activation; PI3K -Akt signaling pathway; platinum drug resistance; cAMP signaling pathway; transcriptional mis regulation in cancer; serotonergic synapse; and malaria. TDSF mainly treats fractures by acting on multiple targets, such as serine/threonine protein kinase 1, tumor necrosis factor, interleukin 6, tumor protein 53, and vascular endothelial growth factor, and regulating the PI3K/AKT and cAMP signaling pathways.

Combination of serum ACSL4 levels and low-dose 256-slice spiral CT exhibits the potential in the early screening of lung cancer.
The prognosis of lung cancer is related to the stage of the disease at the time of detection, and early diagnosis can prolong survival time. In this prospective observational cohort research, we aimed to analyze the diagnostic performance of the combined application of ACSL4 and low-dose 256-slice spiral computed tomography (CT) to lung cancer. ⋯ In summary, our results showed that combination application of ACSL4 and low-dose 256-slice spiral CT might be a potential method for the early screening of lung cancer.
