Whether or not the covered metallic ureteral stent can be used as maintenance treatment for recurrent ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) after pyeloplasty is unknown. Therefore, this study aims to analyze its feasibility. We retrospectively analyzed the records of 20 patients with recurrent UPJO who were treated with the covered metallic ureteral stents from March 2019 to June 2021 at our institution. ⋯ During the median duration of follow-up of 27.00 (18.00) months, 85% (17/20) of patients maintained unobstructed drainage from the renal pelvis to the ureter. Stent-related complications occurred in 7 patients, 3 of which failed because of complications, including stent migration (1 patient), stent encrustation (1 patient), and stent-related infection (1 patient). The covered metallic ureteral stent is feasible for the long-term maintenance treatment of recurrent UPJO after pyeloplasty.

Chronic eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP) presents eosinophil infiltrations in the lung due to allergic reactions. Most CEP patients continue to take glucocorticoids, and their prolonged use induces various side effects. In this case report, based on the efficacy of baricitinib in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and CEP, we aimed to show that the administration of Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors, when RA is complicated by an allergic disease, can stabilize the disease state and help avoid the adverse effects of long-term systemic glucocorticoid administration. ⋯ Recently, inhibition of IL-5 signaling via JAK2 has been reported to be effective in bronchial asthma and atopic dermatitis. Although complications of RA and CEP are not common, the actions of baricitinib are useful not only in arthritis but also in allergic diseases. The efficacy of some JAK inhibitors should be actively tested in patients with RA and these complications.

In this study, we used a network pharmacological method to explore the active ingredients of Hedyotis diffusa Willd (HDW) in the treatment of acne and elucidated the physiological mechanisms in the human body in which they are involved. We identified the active compounds of HDW that are expected to act effectively in the human body using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology database and analysis platform and extracted potential interacting proteins for each active compound using the Swiss Target Prediction platform. Next, we analyzed the potential mechanisms of action of the protein targets shared by HDW and each standard drug on acne and assessed the possibility of spontaneous occurrence of the binding between proteins and active compounds through the molecular docking process. ⋯ Our analysis suggests that HDW can, directly and indirectly, suppress sebum secretion and exert antiinflammatory effects on acne. Further, HDW may regulate free radicals and suppress apoptosis. Therefore, HDW can be used as an alternative or supplement to standard drugs for acne treatment in patients who cannot use standard treatments due to side effects.

The efficacy of traditional Chinese exercise (TCE)-based intervention in the improvement of anthropometric and biochemical indicators in overweight and obese patients is controversial. In this regard, the aim of this review was to summarize the evidence of TCE interventions to evaluate their effectiveness on the anthropometric and biochemical indicators of overweight and obese patients. ⋯ TCE intervention is a beneficial non-pharmacological approach to improving anthropometric and biochemical indicators in overweight and obese subjects, especially in body mass index, weight, fat percentage, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein. The clinical relevance of our findings is pending more extensive trials and more rigorous study designs to strengthen the evidence.

Maternal voice reduces procedural pain in neonates: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Procedural pain management is a very important part in the clinical care of neonates. We aimed to conduct a meta-analysis to evaluate the effects of maternal voice on neonatal procedural pain, to provide insights to the clinical pain care of neonates. ⋯ Maternal voice is beneficial to reduce procedural pain and improve the physiological indicators in neonates. It is still necessary to conduct high-quality, large sample studies in the future to further elucidate the effect of maternal voice on neonatal pain care.
