Rare paratesticular localization of dedifferentiated liposarcoma: Case report and review of the literature.
Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is defined as a malignant tumor that changes its shape from a well-differentiated liposarcoma to a non-liposarcomatous form. Most paratesticular liposarcomas manifest as an inguinal, painless, slow-growing mass. The standard treatment is extensive surgical excision, radiotherapy being proposed for cases with positive margins, those with recurrence, or in cases of the existence of unfavorable prognostic factors. ⋯ This case underlines the importance of both the correct management of oncological patients, as well as immunohistochemical and genetic tests in the identification of prognostic factors, with the ultimate goal of administering an appropriate oncological treatment.

Threatened abortions are a serious health risk for women. Deferiprone tablets are commonly used in the treatment of clinical delivery. Traditional Chinese medicine, a characteristic medical system inherited for thousands of years, often applies Shoutai pills in the treatment of Threatened abortion and has achieved good results. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Shoutai pills combined with dedrogesterone tablets for the treatment of early preterm abortion. ⋯ This study provides high-quality evidence on the efficacy and safety of Shoutai pills in combination with dedrogesterone tablets for the treatment of preterm abortion.

Congenital heart disease (CHD), the most common heart defect in children, refers to congenital disease with abnormal development of the heart or large blood vessels during the fetal period. The researchers suggest that children with CHD show more obvious neurodevelopmental disorders than children with normal development, and children with CHD may have a higher risk of social interaction and communication disorders. This is similar to the characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, the association between type of CHD and ASD is not well understood. This systematic review and meta-analysis will reveal the relationship between type of CHD and ASD. ⋯ The results will provide evidence for the early identification and early intervention of ASD in children with CHD, which may contribute to improving the neurodevelopmental outcome of children with CHD.

Emergency cesarean delivery in patients with heart failure increases maternal and fetal mortality. The present study aimed to identify the relationship between the use of anesthesia for delivery and progressive cardiac deterioration in women with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and to examine its implications on maternal and fetal outcomes. Twenty-nine pregnancies in 25 women with DCM from the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center Hospital (Suita, Japan) were included in this retrospective longitudinal study. ⋯ The rate of general anesthesia was 25% in patients who experienced heart failure and 4% in others. There was no incidence of maternal or fetal death. A preterm anesthetic evaluation may be warranted to optimize anesthetic management when the ejection fraction decreases to ≤ 35% before 34 weeks gestation in patients with DCM.

The significant outcome of bariatric surgery (BS) is weight loss, which may be affected by many factors, such as initial body weight before surgery, sex, and dietary intake. Moreover, rapid weight loss is associated with an increased incidence of postsurgical cholelithiasis. To investigate the observed weight loss outcomes during the first year after BS, we investigated the factors that may influence weight loss and to detect the efficacy of prophylactic ursodeoxycholic acid against gallstone formation. ⋯ A significant correlation was found between the percent of excess weight loss and age, initial body mass index, and initial weight, but there was no significant correlation with sex or type of surgery. The incidence of postoperative cholecystectomy is almost negligible. A significant association was found between age and weight loss after BS. ursodeoxycholic acid is an effective prophylaxis to decrease the incidence of cholecystectomy after BS.
