FCGR2A as one novel potential target for poor survival prognosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of renal cell carcinoma. Immunoglobulin FcγRIIa receptor (FCGR2A) has been implicated in various cancers, however, its role on ccRCC is not well studied. A total of 151 patients with ccRCC were recruited for the study. ⋯ Western blotting revealed that the FCGR2A was expressed at higher levels in the ccRCC tissues. Biological process neural network and support vector machine fitting showed that the R2 between FCGR2A and survival time of ccRCC patients was 0.8429 and 0.7669, respectively. FCGR2A is highly expressed in ccRCC, higher expression of FCGR2A is associated with poorer OS of ccRCC.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a lung disease that is both chronic and progressive and is characterized by glycolysis. However, glycolysis's function and its clinical significance in IPF are still not well understood. We accessed the Gene Expression Omnibus database to retrieve mRNA expression information for lung tissue and other samples. ⋯ All 3 glycolysis-associated genes were validated to be expressed in our cohort. Finally, we used mRNA levels from 3 genes to produce a nomogram to quantitatively predict the prognosis of IPF individuals. As possible indicators for the prognosis of IPF, the glycolysis-related genes stanniocalcin 2, transketolase like 1, and artemin were shown to be promising candidate markers.

Fatty acid metabolism is an essential part of cancer research due to its role in cancer initiation and progression. However, its characteristics and prognostic value in rectum adenocarcinoma have not been systematically evaluated. We collected fatty acid metabolism gene expression profiles and clinical information from the cancer genome atlas and gene expression omnibus databases. ⋯ The independent hazard ratio of the model was 2.72 and the area under curve was higher than age, gender and tumor stage, showing better predictive efficacy. Our study revealed the heterogeneity of fatty acid metabolism in rectum adenocarcinoma, defined 2 completely distinct subtypes of fatty acid metabolism, and finally established a novel fatty acid metabolism-related risk prognostic model. The study contributes to the early risk assessment and monitoring of individual prognosis and provides data to support individualized patient treatment.

Breast cancer (BC) remains the leading cause of cancer-related death in women worldwide. The development of new targeted therapies that may improve patient survival remains an area of growing interest. This study aimed to identify new biomarkers involved in BC progression that could be used as potential targeted therapies. ⋯ The overexpression of hub genes, except CDK1, was associated with poor survival in BC and was regulated by several transcription factors involved in DNA binding activity and transcription regulation. The infiltration levels of immune cells were positively correlated with hub genes, particularly macrophages and CD4+ T cells. This study identified new reliable molecular biomarkers that can serve as potential therapeutic targets for BC treatment.

Abnormal transient receptor potential (TRP) channel function interferes with intracellular calcium-based signaling and causes malignant phenotypes. However, the effects of TRP channel-related genes on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain unclear. This study aimed to identify HCC molecular subtypes and prognostic signatures based on TRP channel-related genes to predict prognostic risks. ⋯ Furthermore, Cluster 1 was more distributed in the low-risk group, with higher drug sensitivities. Two HCC subtypes were identified, of which Cluster 1 was associated with a favorable prognosis. Prognostic signatures related to TRP channel genes and molecular subtypes can be used to predict HCC risk.
