Pupil size can affect the selection of the ablation region in refractive surgery and intraocular lens design in cataract surgery. Therefore, the evaluation of pupil diameter (PD), one of the anterior segment parameters, is an important component of ophthalmological examination. ⋯ PD was smaller in DM patients than in the other groups. PD decreased in all three groups after phacoemulsification. This change should be remembered when planning cataract surgery for chronic metabolic patients.

Medulloblastoma (MB) is one of the most frequent malignant brain tumors in children. The metastasis of MB outside the nervous system is associated with a poor prognosis. Our study aimed to explore the genes correlated with metastasis in MB. ⋯ The expression of FAIM2 was decreased in metastatic MB samples, and FAIM2 harbored missense mutations, amplifications and deep deletions in metastatic samples of MB. Moreover, a total of 25 pathways were significantly activated and 41 pathways were significantly inhibited in FAIM2 high expression group compared to FAIM2 low expression group in MB patients. FAIM2 was tightly correlated with metastasis in MB patients, and the low expression of FAIM2 was associated with poor prognosis.

Aldolase B (ALDOB) gene is essential for the process of glycolysis and differentially expressed in cancers. The aims of this study were to explore the potential role of ALDOB in pan-cancer, in order to deepen the research on the pathological mechanism of cancer. Hence, we used several online tools (TIMER2, GEPIA2, UALCAN, cBioPortal, and MXPRESS) and R language to identify the correlation between the ALDOB expression and survival analysis, genetic alteration, DNA methylation, and immune cell infiltration based on The Cancer Genome Atlas project. ⋯ Besides, ALDOB expression was confirmed to be associated with tumor immune cell infiltration, especially in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), esophageal carcinoma (ESCA), and testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) cases. Further, the enrichment analysis demonstrated that metabolic pathway was closely related to ALDOB expression. Our results provide a comprehensive pan-cancer analysis and suggest ALDOB could act as a promising tumor predictive biomarker for human cancer.

Surgeries may have worse clinical outcomes in pancreatitis. In our institute surgical procedure is barely used surgery to treat pancreatitis nowadays. Chinese guidelines recommended regular exercise for severe pancreatitis. ⋯ The quality of life of patients with severe pancreatitis after the surgical procedure was worse. Six months of nurse-assisted resistant training at the institute has significant improvement on the quality of life of patients in the follow-up periods of acute pancreatitis. Resistant training at the institute would improve the quality of life of patients with acute pancreatitis (Level of Evidence: IV; Technical Efficacy Stage: 5).

Virtual reality (VR)-based training for functions such as cognition, upper extremities, balancing, and activities of daily living (ADL) has been used on stroke patients, and its efficacy has been reported. However, no comparison has been made between the efficacy of VR-based training for daily activities that exactly reproduces ADL and functional training. Therefore, this study sought to analyze the difference in independency enhancement of VR-based training for daily activities compared to cognitive and motor functional training. ⋯ VR-based intervention of training for daily activities and functional training can be considered to benefit the improvement of the performance of daily activities, cognitive function, and upper extremities function in stroke patients. In addition, although functional training was also effective in enhancing independency and functional improvement in stroke patients, an early approach to training for ADL based on tasks with objectives was deemed to be more effective.
