To analyze the molecular mechanism of Prunella vulgaris L. (PV) in the treatment of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) by using network pharmacology combined with molecular docking verification. Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform database was used to predict the main active components of PV, Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform, PubChem, and Swiss Target Prediction databases were used to obtain the corresponding targets of all active components. Targets collected for PTC treatment through Gene Cards, Digest and Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man databases respectively. ⋯ Kaempferol may significantly reduce the activity of Papillary cells of human thyroid carcinoma bcpap cell lines cells compared with quercetin, luteolin, β-sitosterol. Kaempferol may reduce the protein expression levels of interleukin 6, vascular endothelial growth factor A, transcription factor AP-1, tumor protein p53, 1L-1B and prostaglandin endoperoxidase 2, respectively. PV has the characteristics of multi-components, multi-targets and multi- pathways in the treatment of PTC, which network pharmacology help to provides a theoretical basis for the screening of effective components of PV and further research.

Spasticity is one of the most common complications and sequelae of stroke, with the main clinical manifestations being increased muscle tension, pain, stiffness, and other disorders. It not only increases the length of hospitalization and medical costs but also affects the quality of daily life and the stress of returning to society, increasing the burden on patients and their families. At present, 2 driver types of deep muscle stimulator (DMS) have been used in the clinical treatment of post-stroke spasticity (PSS) with good clinical results, but there is no evidence of clinical efficacy and safety. Therefore, this study aims to integrate direct and indirect comparative clinical evidence through a systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA). According to the data, different driver types for DMS with the same body of evidence will be collected, analyzed, and sequenced in a quantitative and comprehensive manner and then screened for the optimal driver type of DMS device for PSS treatment. The study also aims to provide reference value and an evidence-based theoretical basis for the clinical optimization of DMS equipment selection. ⋯ This study will offer a comprehensive evidence-based approach to DMS therapy and assist doctors, PSS patients, and decision-makers in selecting a more efficient, secure, and cost-effective treatment option.

Monkeypox outbreaks across the globe has aroused widespread concern. Ruyi Jinhuang Powder (RJP), a common formula in Chinese medicine, is used to treat pox-like illnesses. This study aimed to identify the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic targets of RJP for the treatment of monkeypox using network pharmacology and bioinformatics techniques. ⋯ Immune-related mechanisms that exerted antiviral effects included signaling pathways like TNF, age-rage, and c-type lectin receptor pathways. Our results illustrated the good therapeutic effect of RJP on monkeypox in terms of biological activity, potential targets, and molecular mechanism. This also offered a promising strategy to reveal the scientific basis and therapeutic mechanism of herbal formulas used to treat the disease.

In patients with stage IA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery (U-VATS) anatomical segmentectomy removes the lung tumor while preserving lung function as much as possible, and it is therefore an alternative to lobectomy. Patients with stage IA NSCLC receiving U-VATS segmental resection at our institution from September 2017 to June 2019 were compared with patients receiving U-VATS lobectomy. A total of 47 patients received segmentectomy and 209 patients received U-VATS lobectomy in the same period. ⋯ At 1 month after surgery, FEV1% and FVC% were not significantly different between the 2 groups (P > .05). At 3 months after surgery, FEV1 and FVC were higher in segmentectomy patients than in lobectomy patients (FEV1, 82.79% ± 6.36% vs 78.55% ± 5.42%; FVC, 81.66% ± 6.09% vs 78.90% ± 5.58%, P < .05). Patients receiving segmentectomy suffer less pain and have better postoperative lung function and higher quality of life.

Renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) is a malignancy of the renal epithelial cells with poor prognosis. Notably, the JAK-STAT pathway mediates cell proliferation and immune response. Accumulating evidence suggests that STATs act as immune checkpoint inhibitors in various cancers. ⋯ Also, several cancer-related kinases, miRNAs, and transcription factors associated with STAT2 were identified. Conclusively, we revealed that STAT2 is a potential prognosis biomarker and associated with immune infiltration in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma. This study offers additional data that will help in further research on the roles of STAT2 protein in carcinogenesis.
