Intranodal implantation of benign thyroid tissue as a late complication of ethanol ablation: A case report.
Ethanol ablation (EA) is recommended as the primary treatment for benign thyroid cysts and its use is increasing. Although complications, such as pain, hoarseness, and hematoma, have been reported after EA, implantation of benign thyroid tissue has not been previously reported. Here, we present a case of intranodal implantation of benign thyroid tissue as a late complication of EA. ⋯ Complicated EA may be associated with the dissemination of benign thyroid tissue into lymph nodes, with a confusing clinical presentation mimicking metastatic PTC. Radiologists and thyroid surgeons should consider the risk of intranodal implantation of benign thyroid tissue as a late complication of EA.

The aim of this study was to analyze the daily physical activity and the relationship between the physical activity levels and psychological variables of Koreans with HIV. Twenty-two people with HIV participated in this study. The participants completed questionnaires, and we assessed the daily physical activity for 2 weeks. ⋯ Restraint eating was higher in the low-intensity group than in the medium- and high-intensity groups (P < .05). However, among the groups, the external eating variable was highest in the high-intensity group (P < .05). Daily physical activity during positively affects the physical and mental well-being of people living with HIV.

The association between body composition and bone health in men over 50 years with type 2 diabetes mellitus remains unclear. We aimed to investigate how fat and lean mass affect bone health in male patients with diabetes over 50 years. A total of 233 hospitalized male type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with aged 50 to 78 years were enrolled. ⋯ LMI was negatively associated with fracture, whereas FMI had such an effect only before adjusting for BMD. Lean mass is dominant in maintaining BMD and is a BMD-independent protective factor for diabetic osteoporotic fracture in male patients aged over 50 years. Fat mass in gravity is positively associated with BMD in the femoral neck, which may mediate fracture protection.

Atrophic gastritis can cause mucosa thinning, while detailed metrological evidence is lacking. We aimed to compare the morphological features of full-thickness gastric mucosa in antrum and corpus and evaluate the diagnostic performance for atrophy. Gastric cancer patients were prospectively enrolled (N = 401). ⋯ The corresponding AUCs for antral atrophy were 0.592 (P = .010), 0.548 (P = .140), and 0.521 (P = .533), respectively. The tendency for mucosal thickness to thin with atrophy occurred in the corpus rather than in the antrum. The diagnostic performance of corpus and antral mucosal thickness was limited for atrophy.

A sore throat is an adverse postoperative consequence of tracheal intubation under general anesthesia. Recently, dexmedetomidine, an anesthetic adjuvant, has shown beneficial effects in postoperative sore throat (POST). Herein, we compared the effects of dexmedetomidine and remifentanil on POST after spinal surgery in the prone position, which is a risk factor for developing POST. ⋯ Dexmedetomidine infusion as an adjuvant during sevoflurane anesthesia significantly reduced the incidence and severity of POST in patients who underwent lumbar surgery 24 hours postoperatively.
