Transforaminal epidural steroid injections (TFESI) are widely used in patients with lumbar foraminal spinal stenosis. Previous studies have evaluated the effects of TFESI on lumbar foraminal spinal stenosis using only pain scores. However, no study has evaluated the effect of TFESI on pain scores and walking distance in patients with lumbar foraminal spinal stenosis. ⋯ Furthermore, the degree of satisfaction was higher in the moderate group than that in the severe group. Lumbar TFESI may reduce pain scores and increase walking distance in patients with moderate or severe lumbar foraminal spinal stenosis. Patients with moderate foraminal stenosis had better pain relief outcomes than those with severe foraminal stenosis.

Douyin as a source of information and education on humeral supracondylar fracture of children during the COVID-19 pandemic in Chinese Mainland: An observational study.
We aimed to investigate whether Douyin videos on pediatric humeral supracondylar fractures could be a useful source during the COVID-19 pandemic. A search was conducted using the term "humeral supracondylar fracture of children" on Douyin. The top 100 videos were selected based on view count. 74 was the final analysis, after excluding 26 videos for various reasons. ⋯ Douyin has been a valuable source of health information for patients during COVID-19 pandemic regarding the occurrence of humeral supracondylar fracture in children. Medical professionals and institutions should upload credible, informative videos and clear, high-quality, scientifically reviewed surgical footage of children with humeral supracondylar fracture. And the videos uploaded by medical professionals and filtered by Douyin's staff appear to be necessary.

Preoperative planning with computed tomography (CT)-based 3-dimensiona (3D) templating has been achieved precise placement of hip components. This study investigated the role of the software (3-dimensional preoperative planning for primary total hip arthroplasty [THA] based on artificial intelligence technology, artificial intelligence hip [AIHIP]) for surgeons with different experience levels in primary THA. In this retrospective cohort study, we included patients, who had undergone THA with the help of the AIHIP, and matched to patients, who had undergone THA without the help of the AIHIP, by age and the doctor who operated on them. ⋯ The stem sizes of 95% were accurately estimated to be within 1 stem size, and 97% of the cup size estimates were accurate to within 1 cup size in senior surgeon group with AIHIP. A total of 87% stem sizes were accurately estimated to be within 1 stem size, and 85% cup sizes were accurate to within 1 cup size in junior surgeon group with AIHIP. In conclusion, our study suggests that an AI-based preoperative 3D planning system for THA is a valuable adjunctive tool for junior doctor and should routinely be performed preoperatively.

An Alluvial diagram illustrates the flow of values from one set to another. Edges (or links/connections) are the connections between nodes (or actors/ vertices). There has been an increase in the use of Alluvial deposits in medical research in recent years. However, there was no illustration of such research on the way to draw the Alluvial for the readers. Our objective was to demonstrate how to draw the Alluvial in Microsoft Excel by using 2 examples, including variable characteristics for COVID-19 patients and research achievements (RAs) on the topic of COVID-19, epidemiology, pathogenesis, and vaccine (CEPV), and provide an easy and friendly method of drawing the Alluvial in MS Excel. ⋯ This study generates several Alluvial diagrams as demonstrations. The tutorial material and MP4 video provided in the Excel module allow readers to draw the Alluvial on their own in an easy and friendly manner.

The differences and correlation of biochemical indexes between bipolar disorder (BPD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) in stable stage were analyzed and discussed. Patients diagnosed with BPD and MDD in the Third People's Hospital of Foshan from January 2019 to December 2021 were selected as the research subjects, with 200 cases in each. Fasting serum was collected from patients and then detected regarding TC, TG, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), aspartate aminotransferase, lactic dehydrogenase, creatine kinase, creatine kinase-MB, urea, creatinine, uric acid, alanine aminotransferase, glucose (GLU), hemoglobin A1c, prolactin, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, homocysteine. ⋯ The prevalence of BPD was significantly negatively correlated with patient age (r = -0.164, P = .020), LDL (r = -0.150, P = .034), GLU (r = -0.140, P = .048), and HbAc1 (r = -0.215, P = .002) (P < .05). There were no significant differences in serum Hcy and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels between the BPD and MDD groups. The age, fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, and LDL of BPD patients were negatively correlated with their incidence.
