To evaluate the diagnostic value of combination of D-dimer and Doppler Intima-Media Thickness (IMT) based on clinical data for vascular dementia (VaD). In this study, 100 cases of initial VaD were diagnosed by Zhenjiang Fourth People Hospital as VaD group, and 100 healthy were engaged as control group, medical history and test results were collected for evaluation. ⋯ D-dimer and IMT are significantly increased in the initial onset of cerebrovascular diseases, and combined detection of them is conducive to early diagnosis and evaluation of the disease. Given the limitations of D-dimer and IMT, combined detection is more conducive to early diagnosis and prognosis, and can be used as screening and routine examination items, even evaluate the severity of cognitive decline.

Douyin as a source of information and education on humeral supracondylar fracture of children during the COVID-19 pandemic in Chinese Mainland: An observational study.
We aimed to investigate whether Douyin videos on pediatric humeral supracondylar fractures could be a useful source during the COVID-19 pandemic. A search was conducted using the term "humeral supracondylar fracture of children" on Douyin. The top 100 videos were selected based on view count. 74 was the final analysis, after excluding 26 videos for various reasons. ⋯ Douyin has been a valuable source of health information for patients during COVID-19 pandemic regarding the occurrence of humeral supracondylar fracture in children. Medical professionals and institutions should upload credible, informative videos and clear, high-quality, scientifically reviewed surgical footage of children with humeral supracondylar fracture. And the videos uploaded by medical professionals and filtered by Douyin's staff appear to be necessary.

High-sensitivity cardiac troponin-T (hs-cTnT) and electrocardiogram (ECG) are commonly ordered in daily practice in emergency medicine but their value on long term mortality in syncope patients is unclear. Our aim is to determine the diagnostic accuracy of hs-cTnT and association of ECG findings for 1-year mortality in patients presenting with syncope. In this retrospective cohort study, we included patients presenting with syncope to the emergency department (ED) between May 2020 and May 2021. ⋯ Patients with an abnormal QTc, T-Axis or frontal QRS-T angle had significantly higher 1-year mortality (OR: 9.26, 95% CI: 1.64-52.31; OR: 5.82, 95% CI: 1.69-20.1; 4.94, 95% CI: 1.45-16.84, respectively). The hs-cTnT level was 21.92 pg/mL (95% CI: 3.35-40.51 pg/mL) higher in the mortality group (P = .023). An abnormal QTc, T-Axis and frontal QRS-T angle are associated with a higher 1-year mortality rate and hs-cTnT has good diagnostic accuracy in detecting 1-year mortality for patients presenting with syncope.

The prevalence of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and major depressive disorders (MDD) becomes increasingly pronounced, exerting a significant impact on the life quality of contemporary people. Although there is mounting evidence of a link between AS and major depression disorders, the specific interactions between the two have not been thoroughly investigated. To this end, this study aimed to check whether the gene expression profiles of patients with AS and major depression disorders overlapped, and whether there were any functional links between the identified genes via protein-protein interactions. ⋯ Additionally, the receiver operating characteristic curve revealed that the key gene MRPL13 played diagnostic roles in AS and MDD after intersecting 10 hub genes with 37 differential expression genes from the 2 validation datasets. The obtained results suggest an overlapping genetic structure between AS and major depression disorders. MRPL13 may provide key insights into the relationship between AS and MDD.

Most hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) treated by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization with drug-eluting beads (DEB-TACE) are characterized by coagulation necrosis; therefore, it is often difficult to distinguish enhancement in the arterial phase that would lead to false negative evaluation. This study aimed to evaluate the specificity and sensitivity of the difference value of multiphase contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) in predicting residual tumor activity in HCC lesions after DEB-TACE. This retrospective diagnostic study analyzed CECT images of 73 HCC lesions in 57 patients 20 to 40 days (average 28 days) after DEB-TACE treatment at our Hospital from January to December 2019. ⋯ The area under the curve (AUC) of the ROC curve showed that the diagnostic efficacies in difference in CT value of AN (AUC = 0.976), VN (AUC = 0.927), and DN (AUC = 0.924) were higher, and their cutoff values were 4.86, 12.065, 20.19 HU with their sensitivities of 93.3%, 84.4%, 77.8% and specificities of 100%, 96.4%, and 100%, respectively. difference in CT value values of AN, VN, DN, difference between CT values of venous and arterial phase scans and difference between CT values of delay and arterial phase scans can sensitively detect residual tumor activity 20-40 days after DEB-TACE. Thus, more sensitive active residual foci were detected using all 3 enhanced phases rather than only the arterial phase. Quantitative analysis of multiphase CECT can detect residual tumor activity in an early and noninvasive manner, which can provide time for patients to receive early follow-up treatment.
