Adeno-associated virus (AAV) plays a vital role in ocular gene therapy and has been widely studied since 1996. This study summarizes and explores the publication outputs and future research trends of AAV-based ocular gene therapy. ⋯ The research focus of the AAV-based ocular gene therapy has transitioned from the study in biological theory to clinical trialing. The AAV-based gene therapy is not limited to inherited retinal diseases but various ocular diseases.

Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a chronic inflammatory breast disease. Currently, there is no international standard for steroid use in IGM, particularly for intralesional steroid injections. This study aimed to determine whether patients with IGM who received oral steroids could benefit from intralesional steroid injection. ⋯ Group A patients were more satisfied (P = .035) with the postoperative results, including postoperative appearance and function. No statistically significant between-group differences were noted regarding side effects and recurrence rates. Preoperative administration of oral steroids combined with intralesional steroid injection yielded better therapeutic effects than did oral steroids alone and may be an effective future treatment for IGM.

Global research hotspots and frontiers of myasthenia gravis from 2002 to 2021: A bibliometric study.
The objective of this study is to utilize bibliometric and visual analysis techniques to identify hotspots and frontiers of research in myasthenia gravis (MG) and provide valuable references for future research. The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was used to retrieve literature data related to MG research, which was then analyzed using VOSviewer 1.6.18, CiteSpace 6.1. R3, and the Online Platform for Bibliometric Analysis. ⋯ Muscle & Nerve and Neurology ranked first in publications and citations respectively, with clinical neurology and neurosciences among the main subject categories explored. The study also identified pathogenesis, eculizumab, thymic epithelial cells, immune checkpoint inhibitors, thymectomy, MuSK antibodies, risk, diagnosis, and management as the current hot research topics in MG, while burst keywords like quality of life, immune-related adverse events (irAEs), rituximab, safety, nivolumab, cancer, and classification indicated the frontiers of MG research. This study effectively identifies the hotspots and frontiers of MG research, and offers valuable references for researchers interested in this area.

The objective of this study is to assess the predictive potency of cell senescence-related genes (CSRGs) in breast cancer (BC) and establish a risk signature. Trascriptome data of CSRGs were obtained from the TCGA and GEO databases. Consensus clustering was used to generate CSRGs-based molecular clusters for BC patients. ⋯ Patients in the low-risk group showed a favorable prognosis and higher immunotherapy response than those in the high-risk group. Finally, we developed a highly stable nomogram that incorporates risk signature, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and stage variables, enabling accurate prediction of the overall survival (OS) of individual patients. To conclude, the signature derived from CSRGs holds great promise as a biomarker for prognostic assessment of BC and may serve as a valuable tool in guiding immunotherapy.

Pancreatic tumors and pancreatitis are the main indications for pancreatic excision (PE). However, little is known about this type of intervention in the context of traumatic injuries. Surgical care for traumatic pancreatic injuries is challenging because of the location of the organ and the lack of information on trauma mechanisms, vital signs, hospital deposition characteristics, and associated injuries. ⋯ The in-hospital mortality rate was 12.4%, with no major differences between the PT and BT groups. Furthermore, there was no difference between BT and PT with respect to the location of the injuries in the pancreas, with the pancreatic tail and body accounting for almost 65% of injuries. Systolic blood pressure, Glasgow Coma Scale score, age, and major liver laceration were revealed by logistic regression as independent predictors of mortality, although trauma mechanisms and intent were not linked to mortality risk.
