Parkinson's disease (PD) is by now the second of the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases in the world, and its incidence is increasing rapidly as the global population ages, with 14.2 million PD patients expected worldwide by 2040. ⋯ Lipids and lipid-like molecules accounted for the majority of the 30 differentially expressed metabolites. Also, pathway enrichment analysis showed significant enrichment in sphingolipid metabolic pathway. These assessments can improve our perception on the underlying mechanism of PD as well as facilitate a better targeting on therapeutic interventions.

Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF), as a new technique, is used to treat a variety of chronic pain syndromes, but it has a high recurrence rate for herpetic neuralgia and is often combined with drugs therapy. The aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and safety of PRF combined with pregabalin in the treatment of herpetic neuralgia. ⋯ PRF combined with pregabalin can effectively alleviate the pain intensity and improve sleep quality in patients with herpetic neuralgia, and the incidence of complications was low, so it was worthy of clinical application.

MLC901 in hypoxic-ischemic brain injury patients: A double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled pilot study.
Hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) is a disabling consequence of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which has no direct treatment except supportive care. Many studies have used pharmacological agents to reduce or stop this disability. MLC901 is a traditional Chinese medicine showing neuroprotective and regenerative effects on focal and global ischemia in previous animal and human studies. We designed an experimental, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to analyze MLC901 efficacy in HIBI patients. ⋯ MLC901 has shown, compared to placebo, a statistically better improvement at 6 months in neurological functions of patients with HIBI.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Examination of stabilization of sedation by Nasal High Flow in patients with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography during sedation using Dexmedetomidine.
Dexmedetomidine is used for the sedation method in the case of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for the purpose of relieving patient anxiety. It has been reported that CO2 accumulated during sedation causes an arousal reaction, so how to normalize CO2 during sedation can be improved by administration of the minimum necessary sedative.Nasal High Flow oxygen therapy (NHF) uses a mild positive pressure load that improves carbon dioxide washout and reduces rebreathing to improve respiratory function and therefore is widely used to prevent hypoxemia and hypercapnia. In this study, we will investigate whether the upper airway patency would be maintained and the hypercapnia and hypoxemia during sedation would be prevented, by applying NHF as a respiratory management method to patients undergoing ERCP under sedation. ⋯ The purpose of this study was to obtain evidence for the utility of NHF as a potential therapeutic device for patients undergoing an ERCP under sedation, assessed by determining if the incidence rates of hypercapnia and hypoxemia decreased in the NHF device group, compared to the control group that did not use of this device.

This study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of depilation with intense pulsed light (IPL) in congenital microtia patients during their reconstruction treatment. The hairy skin was treated with the M22TM system (Lumenis, German) using a filter of 695 to 1200 mm. A contact prob with a window of 15 cm × 35 mm or 8 cm × 15 mm was used at a radiant setting of 14 to 15 J/cm2 in the non-expander group and 13 to 14 J/cm2 in the expander group, both in a single pulse mode. ⋯ Four cases of folliculitis, 3 cases of blisters, and no instance of expander exposure and cartilage absorption were observed in this study. Hair removal with IPL is a safe and effective photo-epilation method during all stages of ear reconstruction using tissue expander. Depilation in the skin expansion period resulted in better outcomes after 3 treatments, although after 5 treatments no difference between the 2 groups was observed.
