Falls are a major concern for people of all ages, especially older adults with declining physical functions and deteriorating muscle strength. The Five Times Sit to Stand Test is used for the assessment of lower limb strength along with balance and postural control. Therefore, the systematic review at hand aimed to determine the optimal procedure and characteristics among older adults. ⋯ The Five Times Sit-to-Stand Test is a safe test, providing added value to apply risk for falls in people at moderate risk and in healthy populations using standardized chair heights and stopwatches.

Macrophages are closely related to the occurrence and development of depression, but there are few bibliometric studies on the role of macrophages in depression. We aim to examine the current state and frontier trends of the research on macrophages in depression from 2000 to 2022 in this study, so as to establish a new direction for follow-up research. ⋯ Research hotspots and trends are analyzed and predicted in this study, which will facilitate the development of macrophage research in depression, so as to provide a reference for further research in this field.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is characterized by diagnosis at an advanced stage, low rate of operability and poor survival. Therefore, there is a need for a biomarker in NSCLC patients to predict the likely outcome and to accurately stratify the patients in terms of the most appropriate treatment modality. To evaluate prognostic value of pretreatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in NSCLC. ⋯ HR was 1.64 (95%CI: 1.11-2.42, P = .013) for PLR ≥ 150 over PLR < 150. Cox-regression analysis revealed that, when adjusted for other independent predictors of survival, NLR and PLR still remain significant predictors of poorer survival. Our findings indicate that elevated pretreatment NLR and PLR are associated with advanced disease and poor survival in NSCLC patients, NLR and PLR values are correlated with each other.

This study aimed to establish a clinical model to predict the risk of hemorrhoid recurrence after procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids. The clinical data of patients who underwent stapler hemorrhoidal mucosal circumcision in Shanxi Bethune Hospital from April 2014 to June 2017 were collected retrospectively and followed up regularly after the operation. Finally, 415 patients were included, which were divided into training group (n = 290) and verification group (n = 125). ⋯ The area under the curve of the prediction model was 0.813 and 0.679, respectively, in the training and verification groups, and 0.839 and 0.746, respectively, for the 5-year recurrence rate. The C index (0.737) and clinical decision curve showed that the model had high clinical practical value. The prediction model of hemorrhoid recurrence risk after hemorrhoidectomy based on multiple clinical indicators can be used for individualized prediction of hemorrhoid recurrence in patients after hemorrhoidectomy, and early intervention measures can be given to individuals with a high recurrence risk to reduce the risk of recurrence.

Ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) are life-threatening conditions which increase in frequency over the years. Electrical storm (ES) is defined as the occurrence of 3 or more continuous ventricular arrhythmia. The sympathetic nervous system has an important role in Ventricular arrythmias (VA) and is the target of treatment. Studies show that stellate ganglion blockade (SGB) can reduce cardiac sympathetic tone and is an alternative bridge therapy in VAs. ⋯ Unilateral USG-guided SGB application is an effective and safe method in patients with ES and VA. Long-term results can be satisfactory in successful responders in whom SGB is performed with a combination of local anesthetic and steroid.
