Over 75% of menopausal women experience vasomotor symptoms (VMS), such as night sweats and hot flashes. Despite the prevalence of these symptoms, there is limited data on non-hormonal therapies to alleviate them. ⋯ While the results should be interpreted with caution until further clinical trials validate the efficacy and safety of NK1/3 receptor antagonists among menopausal women, these findings suggest that they are promising targets for future pharmacological and clinical studies in addressing vasomotor symptoms.

The efficacy of sling exercise combined with extracorporeal shock wave on office workers with chronic neck pain.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of extracorporeal shockwave therapy on the anterior surface line of the fascia meridian, including the oblique muscle, combined with sling exercise, on the stability of the spine in the neck disability index (NDI), neck joint range of motion (ROM), craniovertebral angle, neck alignment, and posture control. A total of 20 office workers with chronic neck pain were randomly assigned to an experimental group that combined extracorporeal shock wave therapy and sling exercise (n = 10) and a control group (CG) consisting of sling exercise (n = 10) performed twice weekly for 4 weeks. All subjects were evaluated using the NDI, ROM, neck alignment, and spine stability tests. ⋯ Comparing changes before and after the intervention, The For example, showed significantly more significant changes in all variables than the CG. The combination of extracorporeal shockwave therapy and sling exercises improved NDI, ROM, and neck and spine alignment in office workers with chronic neck pain more effectively than the sling exercise alone. This study could be recommended as a new approach to enable individuals with chronic neck pain to perform better.

Esophagus cancer patients are at risk for malnourishment. Feeding jejunostomy is used in advanced esophagus cancer patients in order to support and supplement the patients' nutrition needs. In dumping syndrome, the food is rapidly introduced into the intestine at a rate that is faster than normal, it is associated with both digestive system and vasoactive symptoms. Dumping syndrome has an association with both esophagus cancer patients and feeding jejunostomy. In the mid and long term, dumping syndrome is an important issue that contributes to the risk of malnourishment in advanced esophagus cancer patients. In recent studies, acupuncture was effective in regulating digestive symptoms. Acupuncture is considered to be a safe intervention, that was previously shown to be effective in treating digestive-related symptoms. ⋯ There are no previous studies that have examined the use of acupuncture on patients with dumping syndrome. This single-blind randomized control trial will investigate the effect of acupuncture on dumping syndrome in advanced esophagus cancer patients with feeding jejunostomy. The results will determine if verum acupuncture can affect dumping syndrome and prevent weight loss.

Pheochromocytomas are a group of tumors with high genetic heterogeneity, and the clinical characteristics of rearranged during transfection (RET)-mutated pheochromocytoma with medullary spongiform kidney are rarely studied. The treatment process of 1 patient with bilateral adrenal pheochromocytoma combined with medullary sponge kidney with RET gene mutation in our department was retrospectively analyzed, and the treatment methods for this type of disease were studied and summarized in combination with relevant literature. ⋯ On the basis of adequate perioperative preparation, surgical resection is the most effective and preferred treatment for this type of disease. Laparoscopic surgery is minimally invasive, safe, and effective by stages. Mutations in the RET proto-oncogene may lead to medullary spongy kidneys in multiple endocrine neoplasia 2.

Concussions are a common traumatic brain injury in soccer games but are often ignored by coaches and athletes. The purpose of our study is to assess the concussion knowledge and attitudes among amateur adolescent soccer athletes in China. Data was collected from questionnaire surveying (Rosenbaum Concussion Knowledge and Attitudes Survey (Student Version)) and semi-structured interviews completed by 69 amateur adolescent soccer athletes who participated in the U17 and U15 male groups of the 2022 China Youth Soccer League. ⋯ Interestingly, the interviews revealed the inconsistencies between the questionnaire responses and intended behaviors, and multiple factors (injury severity, the importance of the game and substitution rules) influencing concussion-reporting behaviors were identified. In addition, athletes hope to acquire concussion knowledge through formal education. Our study lay the foundation for educational interventions to potentially improve concussion-reporting behaviors among amateur adolescent soccer athletes.
